Hello. I’m almost 59. I’d like to test retirement in Thailand. The only way is to commit to 1 year and then make a decision. Is a retirement visa the only way to live in Thailand for a year?

Hey yall I recently visited Thailand in November into December and I fell in love with the culture the lifestyle and everything else about Thailand I’m from the US and I desperately want to move to Thailand. I’m not sure what route to take. I know there’s visa options but I’m not sure. Which one I should apply for as I want to stay long-term a year or more. If any of you have advice on what route to take, I would love to hear I’m retired by medical discharge from the military and I do have, a pension coming in although I’m only 38 years old and now at the retirement age

First I want to thank any responders in advance. I also want to express my appreciation of this form, I keep learning from it.

I am a US citizen and I am 71 with several questions.

I currently have a one year multiple entry marriage visa. For complex personal reasons I will likely need to change to a retirement visa. I have 800K baht in a Thai bank account. I have monthly social security income that will more than meet Thai minimum requirements. and can be direct deposited to a Thai bank.

I do not think have the funds to apply for any of the newer higher cost visas essentially established to attract wealthier retirees. Although, if the one that costs 50K baht were for some reason strongly recommended, I could potentially save enough before a move to apply for that one.

Any suggestions or recommendations about converting from a marriage visa to a retirement visa?

Since I need my social security to live on in the US until a move here, how can I transition from the 800K baht in a Thai savings account requirement to demonstrating I have sufficient monthly deposits to meet Thai requirements?

If I have sufficient monthly income, does that eliminate the requirement of maintaining $800K baht in the bank

I am confused by insurance requirements. Is there any way to demonstrate sufficient income so that the insurance requirement is waived?

If I need the insurance, who will insure an older gent at a reasonable cost for the Thai minimum coverage?

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I am new to this site. I hope I make sense with this long question. I want to move to Thailand I am 76. I know I will have to deposit around $26,000. in a bank and leave it there. I know I will have to get insurance; I have talked to an agent. I want to make one trip and stay, no return to Florida or USA. We have an embassy here. I want to rent for 6 months then buy a condo when I decide where I want to live. What type of Visa to I need to get to come over and not leave? Thank you in advance.

I am planning on going to Thailand in November for 5 months, I am 62 and my wife is Thai, I am married currently in Ohio. I usually get an OA visa but now I don't have medical insurance since I am retired now and I had international coverage. I thought about a family visa and leave at 90 days and return. I still would like an OA visa but I don't need a years coverage. Since I would have a year visa would they make me keep insurance for the duration of the visa or can I show I'm leaving in 5 months? What is my best route for insurance, cost wise? Or is the family visa better and find insurance for 5 months?

American. 62.

Married to Thai. Applying for OA visa in USA. Will be coming back to USA about 1-2 times a year for just a few weeks at a time.

What’s company do u recommend for my medical insurance for visa purposes? Seems like there is a lot online.

I’m in fairly good health. No existing conditions. Cholesterol is normal. Blood pressure normal. Not taking any meds.
