Actually, most things now are back to how they were pre-covid. Many changes in between. Biggest difference at the moment is the 45 day visa exempt entry

If you time a second border bounce towards the end of the visa date, you can get a third 60+30 deal

There's been many reports that it works now for first time. If you're still 14 days out just try it. You'll get notification within a couple of days if it's worked or not. Still gives you time to go to immigration if it's rejected

It's a misconception that immigration have relaxed since covid. In many cases they have become much stricter. Even Elite Visa will no longer accept applications from anyone with an ED or volunteer visa in their history

It's a misconception that a return ticket is needed. Your airline might ask for evidence of an ONWARD journey within the 45 days. A cheap refundable ticket to a neighbouring country is one option. Another is to "rent" a ticket for about $10 from a website such as onwardticket
