Is there any minimum "stay away" time when doing a "border run" by air? I need to get my OA visa topped up with the second year admitted to stay and have AirAsia points expiring very soon. I have enough points to fly from Bangkok to Phuket via KL, which I can do within the same day (Leave Bangkok in the morning, arrive Phuket in the afternoon same day). Thanks as always for your advice.

TLDR : Answer Summary
There is no minimum stay away time required when doing a border run by air in Thailand. Travelers can leave and re-enter the country on the same day without any issues regarding visa top-ups, particularly for OA visas. Some land borders may have different requirements, but for air travel, you can fly in and out within the same day.

For air transfers there is no limit anywhere. Find a flight or combination to get you there and back in the shortest time and voila entry stamp renewed.

No minimum at all. You can fly in and out the same day. For the land borders, some countries require staying overnight at certain borders (i.e. some Cambodian borders), and others don't (i.e. Laos and Myanmar).
