Would I be right is saying my 6 month multi entry tourist visa gets a 2 month  stamp on arrival Then I can get and extention for 30 days. When that 30 days is up if I do a visa run it is stamped in for another two months and can get a 30 day extention. Is that how it works 

 Australian multi entry 6 month tourist visa from is what I am holding.

Or is it some other configuration.

You can get almost 9 months of stay out of a 6 month METV

The key is you enter as fast as you can after you get the visa because that 6 months starts running down the day they issue the visa.

AND you bounce out and back one final time just before the VISA <- the sticker itself expires, that gives you the final 60 days and you can get a 30 day extension on that taking you to almost 270 days in country total

If you time a second border bounce towards the end of the visa date, you can get a third 60+30 deal

YES ... you are CORRECT.

But the six months applies to the VISA DATES... FROM the date of it's being issued, it's valid for 6 months to enter Thailand.
