I'm pretty sure you need to cancel the original visa (I think you're on an ED ) if you have plans to stay in thailand long term later on. My buddy was in a similar situation as you, canceled his visa last week at CW and is in Lao now for a month. I'm not sure why you would transfer an expired visa to a new passport though.

Seems you've been in thailand for a good year or so on covid extensions, tourist visas and/or visa exemptions. You probably should look into a more long term visa option or go back to the states for a few months.

It'll cost you a little bit but a visa agent can easily handle this and you don't have to waste any time.

I'm from the US but got denied at a few banks and didn't want to waste any more time. It seems they raised their rates.

I used siam legal international, I believe it was 3000 baht or so to open an account at bangkok bank

If you're under 50 get an ED visa and learn the language, thatll give you a full year or more. If you're 50 or over, get a retirement visa.
