I have a tie retirement Visa which expires at the end of April 2026. I intend to return to Thailand this October 2025 to avoid the UK winter.
My UK passport expires at the beginning of October 2026. When I leave Thailand in April, there will be just under six months left on my UK passport.
I am aware that in Europe there have been passengers not allowed onto flights because they do not have six months left on their passport. Is this likely to be an issue for me
If there is any doubt I will take the easy route and renew my passport one year early and transfer the Thai retirement documentation to the new passport
This is my experience with immigration in Bangkok.
I got my DTV when my passport was 9 months to expiration. In the visa field “Note” they reported the date of my passport’s expiration.
I got my new passport at the embassy and been told to go to immigration to transfer the stamp.
At immigration they have a form for this operation. Just fill the fields with the info of the old and new passport and that’s it. In addition you have to provide a copy of the bio page of old and new passport and a copy of the stamped page of the old passport. Also copy of the visa stamp/pdf file for e-visa like DTV. Moreover they tell you to provide a copy of the TM as well. There is no specification on which TM to provide. Given my experience, I suggest you to provide every kind of TM you have, such as TM 6, TM30 or 90days report if available.
The procedure was straight forward at counter J (tourist affair) but they didn’t like my TM30, even if it was all good for the 90days report I did before. I think the reason is that my field of “Check out date” was empty (even if it is an optional field).
I explained that I’m the owner of the condo, so I don’t have a check out date. Hence they wanted a copy of every page of the ownership document (the big paper) and the house book. Luckily I had pics in my phone, so I just printed them out. And they get the house book page from the server of the TM30 (you need to upload it when you do it).
It was a bit of a surprise but every IO was nice and friendly. Just took time and luck to have the additional documents at hand and made them printed out.
New passport is now stamped with the reference number of old passport, entry date and future exit date.
Out of curiosity I asked for the extension. They told me I had to provide every single document of the application (probably updated). When I said I was on a 1 year Muay Thai course, after a few seconds chat among them, they said I was not eligible for extension. Probably I could try my luck as they discussed really few seconds and not analyzing the case deeply, but mostly likely the answer would still be no.
So I have a Non-O retirement visa stamp + 12 moth extension stamp on my passport. I am from Finland and visiting Finland at the moment. I bought the re-entry stamp so everything is ok. Except that my pass port will expire within 9 months.
While still in Finland now, I got a brand new passport.
I cannot remember, which passport I now have to use when leaving Finland and enetering Thailand. Can you, please, remind me, is it the old one or the new one I have to use?
I know, I need to go visit the immigration office after I come back and they will move my visa + extension stamps to my new passport. But do they also move the entry stamps, hence my question earlier..?
I recently renewed my passport and had my retirement visa transferred to the new passport. Immigration now requires a new TM30 even though I remain at the same address. My question is, how does this affect my 90 day check-in timing? Does the new TM30 reset the 90 day clock, or do I continue check in at the date specified by my last check-in notice under my old passport?
What about leaving Thailand with a passport and entering with a new passport but with a re-entry permit stamped on old passport?...I know that I/we will have to show both passports to the IO but can I/we write the re-entry permit number into the "visa Number" space on the TDAC even if the passport number is different?
Hi everyone, I already have an approved DTV visa, but I need to renew my passport soon.
After I get my new passport, my DTV visa will still be in my old one. In this case, can I bring both my old and new passports when I enter Thailand? Will immigration accept that?
My old passport may be marked as invalid (cut corner or stamped), but the DTV visa page will remain intact.
Has anyone had experience entering Thailand like this? Or should I apply for a visa transfer to the new passport after arriving?
Just got my Canadian passport renewed from Canada consulate in BKK and delivered to me in Chiang Rai. I have the previous, now cancelled passport. Do I need to go to immigration and get the new passport updated with current stamp?
