Dear members,

This question has undoubtedly come up before, but I want to make sure I'm doing it right.

I'm retiring in June next year and want to move to Thailand afterward. I plan to live there for at least nine months a year. My girlfriend is Thai, and we already own a house together, but we're not married.

I'd like to apply for a retirement visa without depositing money in a Thai bank account. I meet the income requirement of 65,000 baht per month with my state pension (AOW) and pension.

My questions are:

When is the best time to apply for the visa?

Should I wait until I officially have my state pension (AOW) and pension documents before applying?

Is it wise to arrange the visa myself, or is it better to have it done through a visa service?

All tips and experiences are welcome. Thanks in advance!

Do you know any Muay Thai gyms in Chiang Mai that can produce DTV documents?

Hello👋

Anyone have experience with Thai Privledge Visas and/or using Siam Legal International?

Read mixed reviews.

May you suggest a reputable company to assist with visas/banking?

Please suggest me genuine and affordable border run agencies from UBON RATCHATHANI TO LAOS.

I am from a visa exempt country so that’s 60 days + got my 30 days extension in Bkk. Now I’m in ubon ratchathani and want to do re enter with 60 days as my visa is running out. Could you please recommend me a trusted agency ?

I'm approved, got a few tips to counteract all the negative nancies in here lol.

Mainly, I'd really recommend using a visa service to obtain the DTV, a few hundred bucks to have professionals check your documents, submit and advise on what to do is worth the peace of mind.

It's also likely that they have connections within the embassy to get you through if you encounter problems, I've seen this with my ED visa as well - I assume - because I did this last time, that on my previous ED visa, the 90 day reports had some staff that seemed directly associated with the school I attended at the government complex in BKK you have to go to.

Also a side note, the officer that interviewed me in Laos seemed to like the fact that I was applying to the same school I already trained with to do train Muay Thai. You also have to show proof you've paid for the course for 6m to 1 year, I intend on training for atleast another year and got the full 5 year DTV.

Other tips if applying from Laos (Vientiane)

* Very few banks/exchanges have 10000 baht which you need to pay the embassy with after you get a QR code. I went to about 4 different banks/exchanges before giving up and going all the way back to the airport just to change KIP over.

* If you use an agency, make sure they send the interview confirmation as an image or forward to your own email address. Normally agencies use a custom email address to complete the application on your behalf. This almost caused a problem a few days ago when the guy at the embassy wanted to see it and it wasn't an expected document/proof requested anywhere.

* Get a Unitel Laos sim card at the airport and top it up at shops when it expires, sometimes they have a sign outside showing unitel data/days of service and the price. This is to make sure your internet is working if they ask to see your banking app for money proof (and for staying connected out and about). Plus most esims don't even work in Laos or have ridiculous 1st world roaming charges there... haven't done this mobile credit top up stuff for atleast 20 years, so this was a blast from the past 😹

* My sim card expired while I was there and it was annoyingly difficult to buy one from a convenience store (most of them don't have it). However, there is a lady selling sim cards by the Vientiane Center mall from a tiny stall lol... I searched the entire fking mall to find a phone shop that also has sim cards, and a random street seller had exactly what I needed 🤦‍♂️.

I need to go to Laksi immigration next week - but even when I arrive early - the security guard won’t let me in until 8am.

When I’m finally allowed in there’s already a huge number of people waiting inside.

Is there a secret entrance somewhere?

I’ve tried other doors but all the automatic doors don’t open until 8am.

Thanks for any help

Hi Everyone

I'm looking for a visa service, I'll require help with opening Bank account, transfer my Australian Driver's License and my first one year extension.

I'll be arriving on a 90day non-O visa (already obtained). Any recommendations and costs if known would be appreciated.

TIA

Hello, I would like to ask for some advice. My husband is Dutch, and we have a marriage certificate as well as our child’s birth certificate. We are planning to live permanently in Thailand, and he will need a Non-O visa. However, I don’t have any knowledge about the process. Some people told me he should apply it himself , while others said better buy service from an agency. I’m still unsure and don’t have enough information. If anyone could help, I would be very grateful. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Has anyone found a visa service that helps with DTV extension in Chiang Mai? I used The Colonel for help with a residency permit but they don't help with the DTV extensions. After what I have read about trouble getting extensions at CM IO, I've decided to just use CM Border run service as they have been very good the 2 times I've used them and the process was predictable! If a visa service is available that can do it reliably and drama free that would be a good option. Thanks! :)
