Hello, a friend of mine (US Citizen) recently left Thailand and realized upon arriving home back in the states that he did not receive any exit stamp at suvarnabhumi. Will this be an issue for his next trip to Thailand?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A US citizen left Thailand without receiving an exit stamp at Suvarnabhumi Airport. While it's unusual not to get a stamp, many commenters suggest that as long as his departure is recorded in the immigration system, he should not face issues on his next visit. It's recommended to thoroughly check the passport for any overlooked stamps, as well as to ensure he has proof of his original exit flight to assist in any future queries.

Check every page and every stamp, they like to skip a page or 2 sometimes

I did that once .they cancelled my visa on return so had to get a new one ...

Happened to my wife, no exit stamp at Phuket. Just make sure when you come back you have proof of you original exit flight. They can look up the details and fix the stamp on your return.

There's an automated system in place, and you are always registered In the system that you boarded an ac.

Many countries now aren't using stamps. Passports are scanned and info stored on computer. The airport I leave from in Australia there are hardly any staff. It is all automated.

what other countries do has nothing to do with Thailand's procedures. Thailand has not stopped issuing exit stamps unless someone used the automated channel. Imagine trying to argue with Thai immigration that there is no requirement to have an exit stamp from Thailand just because Australia doesn't do so.

No more exit stamps

News self serve machines dont have exit stamps...no issue!!

Sometimes the stamps are low on ink or the immigration officer did not press hard enough. Let him check again. It is there. Most importantly it is in the computer as long as he left the country legally.

The last time I left Thailand I was told to use the automated barrier rather than go via the immigration officer (I'm a UK passport holder) and therefore had no exit stamp in my passport. I had absolutely no issues when I returned just a couple of weeks later

He said he checked all the pages twice.

Out of the many people that have posted similar, the only time I've ever seen where there actually wasn't a stamp was at a land border.

Have your friend check every page. Turn page by page verifying the page number at the bottom to ensure none are sticking. Look inside other stamps and inspect very closely. 99.9999% chance it's in there.

I didn't get one in December when I flew out. They were trying the epassport system and I just scanned on a machine. But got a stamp in January and will know in 10 days if I get one for Feb
