If I had a penny for all the times I encountered this issue. TM.30 is one of the more messed up things when it comes to dealing with immigration. It is the landlords responsibility by law. But instead of enforcing it with them - they make it your problem. But you cannot report yourself and also have no leverage over the landlord. It is just a mess. You could insist with the landlord that he is required to file by law. You could also have immigration call your landlord (people are rather obedient when it comes to uniforms here in Thailand, so that could get him moving). But realistically, in the end it often comes down to what others suggested and just check into a different place (temporarily) that adheres to the law.

It factually does not make a lot of difference anymore, not as it used to be. As (being Irish) you are eligible to get visa electronically / online, without the need to send in your passport or to even go to some embassy in person. Get the METV as an e-visa here:

In theory: yes. Visa Exemption land-border crossings are limited to 2 times per calendar year. But those don't apply to Indian citizens. Crossing while presenting a valid visa does not have such restriction and should be relatively smooth. However, it does still not guarantee 100% entry and the immigration officer may still question him being a tourist.

Yes. Shitshow #1: The entire residence certificate requirement is BS ... as all it does is stating what visa you are on and where you stay (which could easily be obtained from your passport entry stamp and your TM.30 receipt). Shitshow #2: Every immigration office has vastly deviating rules and procedures (they should not have that kind of autonomy, as the underlying laws are the same, but they do). Shitshow #3: Bangkok immigration does not seem to issue residence certificates for people who have not done any 90 day report, yet (consequently all on Tourist Visa). Best you can do when having to deal with the usual immigration office mess is to shop around immigration offices (and officers) until you have your desired outcome. Meaning go take a vacation in another district / province, do a TM.30 there. And then deal with that (hopefully more beneficial) immigration office. It is painful, dealing with bureaucracy here.

I see. So, they are just wet leased / operated by AirAsia chartered flights, then. Too bad.

Not if you are below the age of 50 and sane enough to not get married or work at Thai wages. Then the only other 5 year option would be the much more pricey Elite visa. But hope dies last, so hoping for 10 years.

Plus the potentially many (rule) and law changes affecting the LTR by then. I cautiously only look at it like a 5 year visa for now.

Great news. Happy for you. 👍

I sort of doubt the 5 year extension is really going to be that mini. Sounds more like the whole process with all documents updated again.

Did you collect your LTR at their Bangkok office? If so, may I ask what the payment options were? Cash only - or would transferring money from (a Thai) bank account work?
