How can I solve my TM30 issue for a 30-day visa extension in Thailand?

So, I went to Samat Prakan Immigration Office to get a 30-day extension (necessary so that I can renew my US passport), and I was given the "Notification Form For House-Master, Owner or Possessor of the Residence Where Alien Has Stayed." I brought this back to my small hotel, and was eventually put in contact with the owner via phone. He said sorry, cannot help. I presume that I now need to change residence and have new house-master or owner fill out this form then go back to immigration?

TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat in Thailand is seeking advice on extending their visa due to the need to renew their US passport. They were provided with a TM30 form, which requires completion by their current accommodation's owner. However, the hotel owner is unwilling to assist. Community members suggest alternatives like checking into a different hotel that will comply with TM30 requirements or visiting immigration offices in Bangkok which may not ask for a TM30. Participants discuss the complexities of the TM30 law and share experiences dealing with similar issues.

If I go to immigration on the Bangkok side, is it the office on Chaengwattana Road?

IT Square LakSi it is. Thanks.

if you have a 60 day tourist visa it's Chaeng Watthana but if you entered visa exempt for 45 days it's IT Square LakSi

Yes it’s a TM30 you need it but not sure you’ll get a new passport in 30 days

If I can get the 30-day extension now, that'll actually give me about six weeks to renew the passport.

Does Bangkok not ask for a TM30 for 90 day reports too? Same if the 90 day report is done online?

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I'll enquire this afternoon with some of the other hotels close by. If no TM30 is forthcoming, I'll look for accommodation on the Bangkok side. (Although it sounds like if I go to the Bangkok immigration office, odds are no TM30 will be necessary ... maybe??)

Check into a cheap hotel in Bkk. Extend at Bkk immigration. You won`t be asked of a TM30 there.

Have a couple of days “holiday” in one of the provinces that doesn’t require a TM30 for tourist/exempt extensions like Bangkok or Phuket. Job done.

That's a TM30, most hotels register it for you. Only dodgy places won't. You can find a hotel for the night and they'll give you a TM30 then take that to immigration.

So, the hotel should provide a TM30? Lesson learned. The taxi driver said that a lot of foreign laborers (Malaysians, Laotians, Cambodians, etc.) use this immigration office. Perhaps that's partly the reason for the more strict enforcement.

by law yes....but they want to dodge the taxes if running guest houses and subsequent fines. I very stayed in places up in PakChong Korat and Buriram

yeah, you don't need it unless you deal with immigration so they won't give you a copy without asking, but most should be registering it for you. TM30 is a pretty standard request by immigration. It's just some don't require it, like Bangkok.

If I had a penny for all the times I encountered this issue. TM.30 is one of the more messed up things when it comes to dealing with immigration. It is the landlords responsibility by law. But instead of enforcing it with them - they make it your problem. But you cannot report yourself and also have no leverage over the landlord. It is just a mess. You could insist with the landlord that he is required to file by law. You could also have immigration call your landlord (people are rather obedient when it comes to uniforms here in Thailand, so that could get him moving). But realistically, in the end it often comes down to what others suggested and just check into a different place (temporarily) that adheres to the law.

Take the Cheap Hotel receipt as a proof of stay and get Your extension. Good luck

yes. The house owner wishes to dodge taxes and the ensuing fine/s. Try what

suggested first if you have time.

Bangkok doesn't usually ask for TM30 so you can try there.

Or checkin to a cheap hotel for 1 night in Samut Prakan and ask them for proof of TM30 And bring it with you next time.

he'll still need a Bangkok address to extend at Bangkok immigration, can he just make one up?
