How far in advance of my 90 day reporting (first one) can I attend immigration to complete? What should I take with me? (Chaing Mai)

Hi. I'm an American woman in Chiang Mai, needing to convert my Non-Immigrant O for purpose of retirement to actual Retirement visa in October. I just had a few questions for this group?

*I know I need 800K in bank for two months (It'll be 2 months this week). --- Can I print out a bank statement from my app or do I need to go to the bank for proof?

*What do I need to bring with besides these items? 4 passport photos, Blue Pen, TM 30, Lease Agreement?

*Should I fill out an application before going? If so, does anyone haves a link to the proper application?

*Am I missing something? Missing any details on this process?

*My current visa expires on Oct 16th, Is going around 7th or 8th safe?

Thanks in advance!

Made it this far with the help of this group!

Hi, which immigration office do I attend in Chaing Mai to extend my 60 day visa? Does it matter I arrived in Bangkok? Can I just turn up and extend it? Thanks in advance. 🙂

Hello everyone,

I'm sorry for this question which must have been asked hundreds of times. I searched through previous posts but couldn't find anything recent.

I entered with a 30 days visa exemption on April 2 (French passport) and would like to do a 30 days extension. I am based in Chiang Mai.

1. I would like to know which of the two offices can I go to carry out this procedure?

1. What documents do I need to bring? I have seen a lot of contradictory information...

Also, the owner of my Airbnb accommodation told me that I don't need the TM30 and that I simply need to provide my temporary residence address during the application. Is it correct?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi there,

AUS passport, registered TM30 in CM, with Non-OX (5 year retirement) visa, due to expire in August.

Whilst I could extend the Non-OX, I decided to change to a Non-O visa (reasons below).

I was told the Non-OX visa can’t be changed directly into a Non-O visa. The process would be;

1. On my next return to Thailand in July, request the IO to ignore the then still valid visa and enter on a 30 day visa exempt stamp.

2. Get 30 day extension

3. Apply for Non-O visa (90 day visa)

4. Get annual extension (+ multiple entry re-entry permit)

Questions:

Will the IO ignore a valid visa on my request?

Could I skip step 2. As money is already in the bank for some time.

Thanks for your expertise and insight.

Reason to change away from OX:

If the Non-OX would mean 5 years without dealing with immigration (besides 90days/TM30), it would be great.

BUT, I still need to visit immigration every year for the document inspection and provide bank and insurance verification documents

SO; either way annual immigration visit, but with a Non-O there is no insurance requirement and a lot less money to keep in the bank (and with the freed up money better invested, it pays easy for the visa/extension and re-entry permits).

I am currently on a 90 day Non-O (marriage visa), tomorrow I am going to immigration (Chiang Mai) to apply for my 1st 1 year extension. On the form of required documents I have been given by immigration it lists "Notification 90 days report appointment". I assume this doesn't apply to me as I am on my 1st 90 day visa?

I will be applying for my 1st 1-year Retirement visa on 6 Jan in Chiang Mai. I will have all necessary documentation and 800K seasoned for 2 months. I was planning on going to Koh Phanang on 10th.. Can I expect the visa the same day or is there a 'under consideration" time period. Just thought of this as I was teady to book flights.

Thanks for any helpful replies
