Hey DTV-Homies,

just a quick update: A feew weeks ago I asked the group if I can extend my DTV - not under the DTV scheme but under the normal tourist visa scheme - for 7 days because I made a mistake while rescheduling my cancelled Etihad flights.

So, if anybody is in a similar situation: Yes, this is possible!

I first went to Chiang Mai Immigration at Central Festival and they weren't able to handle it. But the main office next to Chiang Mai airport extended my stay for 7 days without asking any questions.

On the form, I chose the option to extend due to the war in the middle East. I had prepared all documents about my Etihad flight being cancelled, but nobody asked. I just paid the 1.900 baht and got my new stamp.

That's not an extension. If 7 days, it's a "rejection of extension", which despite its name carries no negative meaning and works as an extension that allows you to stay for 7 days after the original stay expiration date. It's not DTV related, it's for all.

This extension was allowed due to the Gulf War. Emergency 7 day extensions are always at the discretion of the IO, and are not guaranteed.

That was due to the war in Iran. ALL person affected by their flights ✈️ being cancelled can get the 7 days extension or even a 30 day extension. By Asking your local Thai immigration office.
