Hi. Sorry to ask something that must have been asked before but I received confusing informatiin from the Chiang Mai immigration office.
If I am on a retirement visa (my first time) and I want to do the same next year, does the money have to be in the bank two, three or four months before I hand in my application? Some websites give different answers. And is it a matter of sending in the exact same documents as the first time? Will those documents need updating - besides the bank stuff? And can I choose when I do it? I was thinking I might do it two weeks before my current visa expires, although maybe earlier so I have plenty of time if I get anything wrong. Is there an earliest date you can apply before expiry? Thank you!
TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the renewal process for their retirement visa in Thailand, specifically the duration funds must remain in the bank and the documentation needed. Responses indicate that 800,000 baht must be held in a Thai bank account for three months after the initial extension and at least 400,000 baht must be maintained throughout the year. It is also pointed out that the same documents can be reused but may need updating (like a lease agreement). The application can be submitted 45 days before the current visa expires, although an earlier submission is advisable to avoid issues.
