Anonymous as it's a public group! I'm planning to apply for the DTV soft power in Laos. I understand that they always do interviews. I'm married to a Thai citizen. Will they, perhaps, ask why I don't get a marriage visa? If so, how would I justify this to them? (My reasons are that I can work remotely legally, it lasts 5 years, and that I want the flexibility of not always being in Thailand but still being able to return at any point. I don't think I want to live in Thailand forever though so not thinking of the PR route!)

My husband is applying for his dependent DTV visa - we have received conflicting information on the financial requirements and everything. The funds are in my bank account only. Do I need to show 1 million baht or 500k? I thought 1 million but now I've been told on multiple occasions 500k. We are applying from Jakarta. Any tips, general clarifications, shared experiences are welcomed and appreciated. Ty.

Accountant/bookkeeping DTV

Has anyone successfully applied for DTV as an accountant or bookkeeper?

Obviously would be remote working and not client facing.

I can get all the documents for a UK registered company and employment contract (I’m one do the directors and job role is accountant). 500,000+ in Bangkok Bank saving account for three months and 6+ months payslips from the company to UK bank account.

Was going to use an agent but the owner actually advised I do it myself. Currently on ED visa through them for a number of years. They were charging 65,000 baht and I think I would have been one of the first to use their DTV service with no guarantees it is accepted as per all agents.

Going apply for the DTV myself in Vientiane next month (only 180km drive from Khon Kaen) and really appreciate all the posts and advice on here.

Hi everyone,

I just received an email that my DTV application was marked as cancelled rather than rejected, after sitting in “pending approval” for six days. Great...

I have a slight suspicion that something might have gone wrong in my initial application, maybe some information wasn’t filled out correctly from my side.

Has anyone here experienced a cancellation (as opposed to a rejection)?

If so, what happened next and what steps did you take? Did you reapply right away, or take another route?

I’m currently considering just reapplying through the same embassy, but I’d really appreciate hearing from others who went through something similar.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Good Morning! I am planning to leave to Thailand next year June and was wondering if anyone had information that they could give me in regards to the DTV Visa and the requirements if I’m filing from the U.S? Thank you.

Question: Any Malaysians applied for the DTV via Vietnam? Can’t find specific requirement for Malaysians - the website seems to highlight some countries which require additional documents – and if not listed, ‘recommended’ to apply in their home countries.

Any advice appreciated!

DTV application question: I plan to do it in Indonesia (Bali or Jakarta, not sure if it matters), is it risky if I apply myself or should I do it through an agency? How long does it take to process the visa from Indonesia? Whats the success rate if I apply under Muay Thai vs Cooking class (preferred for me, i actually love cooking)?

If I go with an agency, which ones are reliable and has a decent price? I talked to an agency and their price is more than other ones and they said I can only go do it in Vietnam (don't prefer to go bc it traumatized me a little in the past) and only apply for Muay thai bc they have a partnership and that cooking classes won't get approved. I feel like they just want me to do this so their partner gets my money for muay thai (my partner wants to do muay thai but I don't bc i am unable to do it physically due to health reasons and I've done it in the past when I was able to).

Also if I opt for a cooking class like do I have to look for a place that would agree that I would use them for a DTV visa? Whats the success rate for this? I'm actually serious about cooking though, how come muay thai always gets approved and cooking classes don't have the same success rate?

Let me know if you have successfully applied from Indonesia with a cooking class or muay thai option or any good agencies (not willing to spend a lot for this since I can technically do it myself).

Thanks

Hi Guys,

Just got DTV approval (workcation) from the KL Malaysia Embassy today. 🎉

Honestly, the process was a nightmare.

I originally planned to apply in Vietnam, but since I’m staying in Malaysia for a month, I decided to take the risk and apply here instead.

Bank requirement: My 3-month statement didn’t show 500k THB consistently. I only had 1 month with over 600k THB. However, my account is very active, with deposits/spending.

Certified statement issue: The embassy requested a certified bank statement. Since Thai banks don’t provide this online and I couldn’t physically return to Thailand, I submitted what I had. As a backup, I requested a bank reference letter.

Employment contract: They required an embassy-authenticated employment contract. Instead, I provided my remote-work employment contract signed via DocuSign, along with the Singapore business profile of the company I work for.

Proof of Income issue: My income is in stable fiat, not shown directly in the Thai account. I could only show conversions into THB. So I attached my Binance statement to support this.

Proof of residence: I submitted my Thai condo contract, which is still valid, as evidence since I’ve been living in Thailand.

Here’s a quick breakdown of my experience:

The timeline was 15 business days, excluding 2 embassy holidays during the process.

Submitted: Aug 26 (Tue)

First document request: Aug 29 (Fri)

• Full passport (all pages, incl. empty)

• Malaysia entry stamp/PR pass

• Job explanation + relation to DTV/digital nomad

• Portfolio or job presentation

• Company registration/business license (embassy authenticated)

• Employment contract/certificate (embassy authenticated)

• Salary slips (last 6 months)

• Personal bank statement (3 months, 500k THB, certified)

• Proof of residence in Thailand (6 months+, lease, etc.)

Additional document request: Sept 3 (Wed)

• Financial proof (500k THB balance) → highlight salary income in statement

• Other income sources?

Additional question: Sept 10 (Wed)

• Why apply in KL instead of Singapore?

Approved: Sept 17 (Wed) ✅

I hope this helps anyone who is planning to apply in Malaysia. Let me know if you have any questions!
