DTV from Vietnam – Russian citizen, Bangkok, Muay Thai, mother as sponsor, low self-employment income. Any advice?
Hi everyone,
I’m a 25 yearold Russian citizen, currently in Thailand on a tourist visa. I’m planning to apply for the DTV (Soft Power / Muay Thai) from Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi) soon. I’d really appreciate any insights or shared experiences from people in a similar situation.
Main questions:
1. I’m self-employed with a small monthly income
I have proof of self-employment
2. Is a mother sponsoring her daughter generally accepted by the Thai embassy in Vietnam?
3. Income vs. sponsor: My own income is low, but I have a strong sponsor (mother). Is it better to mention my self-employment in the application, or should I just rely on the sponsor and not mention my income to avoid confusion?
4. Muay Thai school: Has anyone used Sor.Dechapant for their DTV application? Did the embassy accept their documents without issues? Or could you recommend a different Muay Thai school in Bangkok?
5. Processing time in Vietnam: For those who applied from Vietnam recently, how long did it take? Any interview requests?
I’d be very grateful for any advice or shared experiences. Thank you in advance!
I initially got denied in HCMC Vietnam. Was going to give up but whilst in Philippines I had a chance of heart.
Both times was workcation.
This time though, as I got rejected last time which I think was due to not having proof of tax (I’ve been travelling for two years living off savings) and applied before my first paycheck, I used a family member as a sponsor alongside my own 500k. This time I had been paid a couple times too which was also in my favour.
I had 3 rounds of additional documents. Proof of correspondence with clients and then the rest was mostly about my sponsor.
Was quite annoying, as everything they asked me, they could have asked in one go but hey, we got there in the end.
- Applied on the 8th Jan, pending approval multiple times and then back to pending document check > document requests.
I've read many posts from everyone and it's very helpful information thank you. One thing that I'm not clarified on is how many of you go or try to apply for the 5 year DTV? Lots of you get the Thai e-visa from Vietnam, or Jakarta, etc (congrats for those that got it!)
I am temporarily unemployed but I have money saved up and some gifts coming in from family. I'm a U.S citizen and I'm wondering if a longer-term Muay Thai visa would work, like if I paid for 3 months with a gym and made sure I have the 500k+ Bhat minimum for 3 months.
I'm sure this question has been asked multiple times so I apologize!
Applied Feb 18th. Requested additional documents March 3rd, Approved March 5th.
I applied online through the evisa site on the 18th through Workcation catagory.
I am self employed but did not have the funds required for the visa application so I had my dad sponsor me with his savings account.
Was initially worried about that being under workcation catagory but after I applied they just needed an employement verification letter signed (by myself) and they approved it.
I submitted:
Letter of Intent, Employment Contract, Proof of Work (Link to my site and invoices), Sponsorship Letter, Bank Statements (I used 6 months), Copy of My Dads Passport for ID verification, and Employment Verification Letter. I had already purhcased my flight and made a hotel reservation for my travels (March 31st is my flight out)
I wanted to say thank you to this group as I combed over tons of posts before submitting my application. I have never been anywhere outside of the US and Mexico (right across the border) but this has been a dream for going on 10 years now so I am so hyped to make it happen.
I used ChatGPT throughout my process to help me draft letters and follow the requirements with the DTV. I had ChatGPT make editable templates of all the letters I submitted if that would be helpful I put them here in a shareable folder (just make your own copy of them as needed).
Good afternoon. I entered Thailand with DTV in august 24. so i need to extend. I applied under medical soft power and already printed all documents from Bumrungrad hospital. Due to high medical costs and co-pay from insurance, my foreign bank account can’t keep the same balance for months. I printed evidence of income with embassy signature. But if they still want to see a steady balance, I could print a sponsorship letter from relatives. I believe this was meant for emplpyers. Did someone try private sponsorship? I don’t like long bus trips and would prefer to avoid border jumps 🙏
Hello guys I want to apply for a tourist visa to Thailand I don't have a bank statement but I have someone who want to sponsored for my trip to Thailand and he have a bank statement and his a South Africa'n me am based in Zimbabwe but am currently in South Africa as well what really needed to apply
Does anyone have experience with applying for the DTV as a family?
I am interested to find out whether it's enough to have 500k in a bank account or if it has to be 500k per person.
If it has to be 500k per person, is it possible to use agents to circumvent this requirement? I am not keen on liquidating investments just for a visa application.
We would probably apply at the Thai embassy in Jakarta.
Hi, I'm asking if anybody got the DTV Visa with a sponsorship letter.. I have remote contract and start at September regular work as a projectmanager with very good salary.. Finally I can make my dream true to live in Thailand... I currently don't have the 500.000 baht at the moment as savings. Do you think it's possible with a sponsor who declares to give me the financial support? Thank you mike
I have a Filipina friend wanting to visit Thailand… She is a first time traveller outside her country, but she will have the 20.000 Bahts along with an Address of accommodations as well as the Return Ticket required -after her 60 or 90day stay as is the New Rules published on July 15th for the Tourist Visa Exemption Scheme for Philippines…
I did read a few articles on Sponsoring, but as a Foreign on long term visa here in the Kingdom, I am not even sure if that is an option although the Officer could check with a few clicks that the place of residence is a match to her Declaration as well as I been living here for over 10 years, so that could at the very least give Validity to her Declaration. Thanks in advance for your educated advice. Very much appreciated
Hi all, I have been in a relationship with a thai girl for 5 years now, and she would like to have a vacation in the UK in my country with me, she has her own home, but insists she has to have maybe 500,000 baht in her account, for her visa, would my sufficient savings not vouch for her, rather than loose interest on my assets, hope this is ok to post, and hopefully gain a bit of enlightenment, kind regards
