A user is inquiring about a peculiar request from the Thai embassy related to their Muay Thai visa application, specifically needing to provide proof of current or prior practice. Community members suggest different approaches, including supplying a picture and obtaining a cover letter from the gym, along with formal identification from the gym owners. Additional context includes applying from Kuala Lumpur, perceived as a challenging location for the application process.
Applying from KL (from what I’ve read on here the most difficult), I am applying soft power - Muay Thai obviously - I have sent them the 6 month course, the gym have provided a cover letter with all formalities, IDs of Gym Owners, proof of payment. Really random strange request, It will be my first time training Muay Thai. I have had Chat make me a presentation and will covert into PDF with a phot of the gym I will be attending
Anonieme deelnemer First time training Muay Thai, and immediately start with 6 months or more and move to another country is quite a big step.
This might be a way of embassies to try to distinguish people who are legitimate trying to get a visa for their training from people who just want to live in Thailand and want a visa and subsribe for a training only to get a visa.
It seems they want you to demonstrate that you are currently practicing Muay Thai, or have practiced it prior to submitting your application. This requirement is somewhat unusual, but I have seen slightly different wording used in same contexts.
Anonymous participant The embassy in Indonesia has frequently asked for this as well. I believe they want to see that you actually are interested in the topic and not just using it as a means to get a 5 year visa.
