Hey everyone, I’m planning to apply for DTV through workation but I’m using a letter from my mother as a sponsor to prove the amount of 500k. And I’m applying from Indonesia.
Has anyone been in a similar situation?
Summary so far
The discussion revolves around the requirements for proving financial means for a DTV visa application in Thailand, particularly using a sponsor letter from a parent. Most comments indicate that the funds must be in the applicant's own account and not under the sponsor's name. Some users share their experiences, reinforcing the idea that personal bank statements and funds need to meet specific criteria for qualifying for the visa.

I can't tell you whether a sponsor letter works. But I asked my agent two questions close to yours, so this may still be useful.
I applied through the Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo — filed 23 April 2026, approved 2 June. Before filing I asked whether I could count my wife's balance, and whether I could use securities instead of cash in a bank. The answer was no to both, and my agent was firm that the funds had to sit in the applicant's own bank account.
That is my agent's position. I could not find it written in what Tokyo publishes, so treat it as one experienced opinion rather than a rule — I would put the same question to your post in Indonesia before you pay anything.
What Tokyo did accept from me: three months of statements in my own name, 2,500,000 yen (about US$15,500) sitting in a Japanese account, untouched. No baht, no Thai account. And the money was never what held me up — they rejected my application photo twice, and that is what cost me the days.
Your mother would need to apply as the main applicant and then you as her dependent. I think you must be 16 or younger though for the sponsor letter to work
