Hello everyone,

I need to know if any of you have applied for a DTV with proof of 500,000 baht and were able to sponsor a partner without needing to prove an additional 500,000 baht for them. Is it possible to apply this way? Has anyone tried it? Where?
Answer summary
The possibility of applying for a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) with proof of 500,000 baht and sponsoring a partner without needing to show an additional 500,000 baht varies. While some individuals report success using their own funds solely to sponsor their partner, it is generally advisable to provide strong financial evidence and prepare additional documentation as requirements can differ by embassy or consulate. Legal marriage is crucial; partners must be married to qualify for combined sponsorship. Clear financial documentation is key for a successful application.

It can be possible, but I’d be careful relying only on your partner’s funds. The important part is showing clear financial evidence and explaining the relationship/source of funds consistently with the rest of your application. Requirements can also vary depending on the embassy/consulate processing the application. If possible, I’d prepare your own financial evidence as strongly as you can rather than relying entirely on sponsorship.

Yes no prob! Once 500k on a bank on your name!

Enough for the whole family!

Just write a letter of sponsorship. AI can help you…

So no need of 1 Mio

I can't answer your question — I never asked it. Two things from our file, in case they are still useful.

What I did check was the reverse, and only for myself as the main applicant: could I count my wife's balance toward my own 500,000 THB, and could I use securities instead of cash. My agent said no to both, and was firm that the funds had to sit in the applicant's own bank account. Whether a partner can ride on the main applicant's balance, I never asked — I have nothing on that.

We ended up splitting anyway: I took the DTV alone through Tokyo (filed 23 April 2026, approved 2 June), and my wife and our daughter came in on education / guardian visas. What I did not see coming is what that does afterwards — my wife can open a Thai bank account and I cannot, because her visa has to be extended against a Thai balance. The DTV asks for its 500,000 THB once, at application, in any country's bank; mine was 2,500,000 yen (about US$15,500) in Japan, never converted.

As long as you are officially married then it is no problem, but, if not legally married then no, it won't work, and common law marriages are not recognized.

Yep I was able to do that, supplied multiple accounts showing the balance none of which had my partners’ name (U.S domestic partner). He didn’t need to supply his own bank account at all. Applied via Brazil.

You can use the same account but it must have your partners name on it too if they intend to use it for the spousal DTV.

This is what we were told by the LA consulate and it worked for my partner and Me.
