Hey all thanks in advance for advice. This is a very nerve-racking week and need any final insights.

I had my EDU visa cancelled for June 15th and the same day I plan to fly to Taiwan or Philippines.

My plan is to apply for Workation DTV visa.

I have been teaching online for 6 years now but will get my father’s (same last name) 6 months bank statements which show a couple million baht + a sponsor letter + a signed photocopy of his passport.

I will make a professional portfolio as a freelancer and bank statements + income proof for the last 6 months.

Of course there a few other required documents like copies of my own passport etc which I’ll get

But basically is there any extra advice or suggestions on Taiwan vs Philippines?

Also e-visa vs walk-in?

I will also dress quite well and look professional.

Any more advice will be much appreciated!

This is quite stressful.

Thanks all!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on applying for a Workation DTV visa after their EDU visa was cancelled. They plan to travel to Taiwan or the Philippines and are gathering necessary documents, including sponsorship from their father. Comments suggest that applying for the visa as a freelancer without sufficient funds (under 500K THB) may raise questions, and there is a preference for e-visas over walk-in applications. Taiwan may have stricter requirements compared to the Philippines.

Isn’t it kinda weird that you apply as a freelancer but don’t have 500 K in your bank account? Not being negative, just to get insights from others ✌️

Anonieme deelnemer 696 I agree, and that might also be the reason most embassies only accept employer sponsorship.

Where have you seen success stories of people that used corporate sponsorship? I've been looking for weeks but have yet to find someone that has done that successfully. I ask because my only funding route is corporate sponsorship in the company account. Thank you for any pointers you can give 🙏

It is E-visa only no walk applications. You can be asked for an interview after they have read through your documentation. You need to check with the embassy regarding sponsorship, some only accept employer sponsorship. If you are earning an income, why are you getting sponsorship? There is no minimum income for DTV approval, You do not have the 500K? if so better to "borrow" from dad and apply yourself

this is point 4. On the Taiwan embassy site:

“Financial evidence: amount of no less than 500,000 THB OR equivalent amount in foreign currency e.g. bank statements OR sponsorship letter covering living expenses.”

Yes, but you need to confirm with them if they accept parental sponsorship. Applicants have submitted sponsorship via a parent at other embassies and told they accept employer only sponsors. I do not know the policy with Taipei. You could email them and check..

In that case I would need it to be in the account for 3 months right?

No, Taipei and Manilla have no seasoning, just submit 6 months of statements with a final balance of 500K. I got mine in Taipei, Manilla is friendlier and i was going there if i failed at Taipei.. it is a good choice.
