hello all

maybe a silly question but i have been waiting for dtv visa approval since august 14. The application has been delayed because they needed additional documents and the person doing the visa applications is currently on leave. Now, tomorrow I will arrive in Thailand. Since I meet all the conditions I suspect my visa application will be approved but since the circumstances so not until I am already in the country. In other words, I will enter on a visa-free basis (so I suspect I will also have to show a return ticket from within 60 days?). Now, my question is, if I get my dtv visa while I am in the country, do I still have to leave the country and back in for this visa to be valid? Or can I solve this by e.g. stopping by a migration office?

To those who have done border-runs into Penang, Malaysia or through Ranong into Burma (which I hear involves a ferry?) please share your experiences .

I’m a snowbird from Minnesota who built a house in Phetchaburi. Need to do my first border-run in many years around mid-February. (Used to be a teacher so never had to worry about border runs!) Trying to do this as cheaply as possible.

From Phetchaburi province my guess is that these are the two easiest options. Penang sounds simpler as I can take a train there and back from here. Ranong sounds harder but maybe more scenic or exciting…?

Please help me decide.

Hi. I entered Thailand on an OA e-visa from the UK in 5 Sept. I don’t know if I needed to but I registered a TM30 for the year at my house in Samui. I am trying to find out: (a) do I need to do 90-day address reports at Immigration? (b) what can I renew this OA for next year? I am diligently moving > THB65k each month to my Bangkok Bank account from the UK using Swift so I will meet any financial requirements in Thailand. Thanks for the advice.

Hi there,

I’m about to renew my one-year extension based on marriage for the first time.

Is the immigration officer going to visit my home again and will I need the two witnesses ?

Thanks.

Transfer visa from 1 passport to another ( same nationality - ED visa, int. student)

I need to get my visa transferred from one passport to another since my old one gonna expire very soon.

Got a few questions:

1. Which counter at Chaengwattana it needs to get done?

2. Does it cost anything?

3. Is there a document from the embassy needed or I can simply go with my 2 passports and get things done?

Many thanks in advance :)

I've searched the group but am still not sure what the financial requirements are for Non-Ed visa. Is it 300 or 500K for 30 or 90 days before applying for a one year extension? And what is the window in which one should apply for the extension (meaning days before the extension deadline)? Thanks.

I've been volunteering with a Thai foundation and have a non-immigrant O visa through them. My husband and son are following me. We are getting ready to go to the US for a visit, but I'm ending my commitment at the foundation, which means our visa will be cancelled about 15 days prior to our departure. Since we won't be volunteering or working, just preparing for our visit to the US, a tourist visa makes the most sense to us. I was wondering the following:

1. Is it true that if we drive over a land border to renew, we can only get an extra 15 days but we can get 30 days if we go through an airport?

1. If we are changing visa types from a non-O to a tourist, do we need to go to a Thai embassy or would our visas simply be cancelled on our exit and then could we just get a 30 day stamp upon our return to Thailand?

1. Our daughter, who is 1.5 years old was born in Thailand and we were advised that she didn't need a visa. There is much conflicting information out there about this issue. Some people say that a child born in Thailand doesn't need a visa until they are 15, others say they don't need a visa until they leave the country. Can anyone provide clarity on this issue for me?

Thank you!
