I've searched the group but am still not sure what the financial requirements are for Non-Ed visa. Is it 300 or 500K for 30 or 90 days before applying for a one year extension? And what is the window in which one should apply for the extension (meaning days before the extension deadline)? Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The financial requirements for a Non-Ed visa extension are not strictly defined, as there are no financial stipulations for the Extension of Stay based on study in Thailand. However, if you are on a Non Immigrant O Visa and extending as a family member of a student, you might need to show 500,000 THB in a Thai bank account for a minimum of 3 months prior to applying. It is advisable to apply for an extension between 30 days before your current visa expires and the last day of permitted stay.

The change is that you need now proof of this 500.000 Thb for a period of minimum 3 months prior the application date in your bank account.

IF you have now an Extension of Stay you need re-entry permit if you go traveling. You can apply for a new Extension of Stay between 30 days and your last day of Permitted up to ../../...

Just double checking that I do NOT have to leave the country to get my one year extension of stay when I renew this year. My renewal date is Jan 6, 2020. Unfortunately, the date is right around the holidays, so I need to consider this as I do my travel plans.

Yes, I am following my child. I know the requirement changes a little after the first year (the amount of baht or time).

Could it be that you have a Non Immigrant O Visa and after that applied for the Extension of Stay in the case of being a family member of an alien who has been permitted a temporary stay in the Kingdom for study in an educational institution according to Clauses 2.8 or 2.9 hereof. That is the Extension of Stay where you need 500.000 Thb in a Thai bank on your name? It is a wild guess, but worth the try.

sounds like a good wild guess to me....๐Ÿ˜‰

There are strangely enough no financial requirements to apply for an Extension of Stay based on study inside Thailand. At most Immigration Offices you apply between 30 days and your last day of Admitted to Stay but you can only do this in combination with your school, who has to apply most of the documents.

Iโ€™m currently on an education visa and have never been asked to show any money. I got my visa from Kota Bharu in June, flew into Thailand via Krabi Airport.

I probably have the terminology wrong. When I applied last year for the Non-ed, I had to show 500K in my Thai bank account for 30 days before and on the day of the application.
