Hi. I entered Thailand on an OA e-visa from the UK in 5 Sept. I don’t know if I needed to but I registered a TM30 for the year at my house in Samui. I am trying to find out: (a) do I need to do 90-day address reports at Immigration? (b) what can I renew this OA for next year? I am diligently moving > THB65k each month to my Bangkok Bank account from the UK using Swift so I will meet any financial requirements in Thailand. Thanks for the advice.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking clarification on the necessity of 90-day address reports after entering Thailand on an OA e-visa and the process for renewing this visa for the next year, given their financial remittances.

To be completely honest if this is a brand new OA visa, you should have been stamped in for a year when you arrived (or as long as your mandatory health insurance was valid for)

AND

You might notice that PDF of the visa says multiple entries and the visa itself is good for a year from the date it was issued. What that means is IF you exit and reenter the country just before the PDF visa expires (NOT your little red entry stamp) and you had another year of insurance you'd get stamped in for a whole new year <- Most people get TWO years of stay out of an OA visa that is valid for a year by this method.

Just so you're clear, you don't "renew" anything 😮 You either exit/re-enter the country before this visa PDF expires to get another year entry stamp

OR

You go to the immigration office when you have 30 days or less left on your current entry stamp and apply for the yearly extension by providing the required documents and proof you tranferred in a minimum of 65K baht a month each month every month for the previous 12 month

Got it. I’m likely to enter/exit every 1-2 months and I understand each entry stamp lasts as long as the insurance. As I won’t want to be stuck here for 12 months from the day this e-visa expires (assuming I have the insurance certificate) then as you say I go to immigration with my finance proofs 30 or so days before the expiry. Can I check what visa I apply for at this point from within Thailand as I believe the OA is applied for in your home country. Thanks.

you don't apply for ANY visa at the immigration office, you would apply for a yearly "extension of stay" <- it just extends your most current entry stamp for a year (or as long as your mandatory health insurance is good for) The extension costs 1900baht and if you are going to exit/re-enter the country during that year you would buy a multiple re-entry permit AFTER you get the year extension inked into your passport for 3800baht then you can come and go all you want and each time you will get stamped back in until that extension expires.

got it. Thank you so much for clarifying.

you do 90 day reporting and your first 90 day report will be due 89 days from the date you stamped in, so if you stamped in on Sept 5th your 90 day report is due Dec 3

you can go to the immigration office and file a 90 day report from 2 weeks before that date to 1 week after it without a fine.

Perfect. It’s amazing that they don’t tell you this on the visa application web site or when you enter as there’s nothing in my passport that says I have to do any address reporting. Am I correct that if I exit/enter within the 90 days then the 90-day countdown resets itself? Thanks.

correct.. Keep in mind filing a TM30 stating you reside at xxx address has NOTHING to do with your 90 day reporting. Those are two completely separate things
