Regarding marriage visa is it true that the 400k needs to sit untouched in the bank for 2-3 months after the visa has been issued? thanks in advance.

I got my yearly renewal visa as married to a Thai at chaeng watthana yesterday. Do I still have to keep 400,000 baht in my account for a period of time or can I go below that amount.

Hi, I’m married to a Thai citizen. In the past, I’ve entered Thailand on a 3 month non-immigrant O visa, and then gone to Thai Immigration in Rayong to extend the visa to 12 months. This extension required proof of funds of 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account for at least 3 months prior to the application (or monthly income of at least 40,000 baht). I just want to check that this figure has not changed in the past 2 years.

I am an American applying for a non-o marriage visa and am confused about the process.

Does one get a 90 day Visa first and then have that time to deposit 400,000 baht in the bank for the remainder/extension to make it a year,,, or, is the 400,000 necessary before arrival?

Any advice will help, thanks

Hey guys just going through the processes required for my visa including putting 400,000฿ into a Thai bank account.

Just wondering if that amount can be used during the year or do I need to maintain that amount regardless of what I use?

Also will they try to tax me on this amount that I deposit?

Lastly can you recommend a bank in Thailand?

Thanks in advance.

Regarding the 'under consideration' period when obtaining one year extension based on being married to a Thai: there is a recent answer here about this type of extension that said "do NOT draw down any.of the 400,000 Thai baht money used to obtain this".

- Can you please confirm whether or not the 400,000b should remain untouched during the under consideration period?

- And if it should not be drawn down below 400,000b does that mean that when we go back to the immigration office after the under consideration period we have to bring proof that the 400,000b funds is currently still in the bank?

- What all is required to bring to immigration after the under consideration period?
