hi everyone so if your criminal check/police check/acro isn't clean (eg you have a conviction for driving offence)is that mean automatic refusal for the dtv visa ?
Answer summary
The conversation discusses the impact of having a criminal record on obtaining a DTV visa in Thailand. The general consensus is that not all criminal records automatically lead to a visa denial; factors such as the severity and nature of the offense play a crucial role in the decision. Participants express uncertainty about how different offenses, especially driving-related ones, are treated and highlight that recent and serious crimes may be taken more seriously by immigration authorities. It's suggested that checking with the Thai embassy for precise regulations is advisable.

It’s a brilliant addition from Thailand. The country doesn’t want criminals or people with dodgy records to come here. Most people I’ve spoke to have welcomed this. The tighter the rules the better for everyone legitimately on a DTV.
Next they should review those currently on the visa to make sure they are still appropriate
Anonymous participant 277 The question related to criminal records. As you know, there is no requirement for a DTV holder to be currently enrolled upon a qualifying course (Soft Power) or to be currently employed (Workcation). You need to ensure these people you speak to also know this. Providing they exist of course.
Have you actually received your Police Certificate? Under the ACRO step-down rules, it will likely not be listed unless it is very recent. Other visa groups that require a CRC say they are only interested in serious crimes involving violence or offences that mean you go to prison etc.
Its only serious offences they are interested in with immagration checks. You think they care if you have a dropping litter offence 🤣🤣 They want ti know you are not a risk.
I suspect it's going to be down embassy to embassy. The retirement "O-A visa applied for in your home country also needs a criminal background check. I suspect it's going to be a very similar list to that one. No idea what's on it.
Well if the driving offense was recent and included running over 6 kids and a disabled person in a wheelchair chair while under the influence, you may want to reconsider.
Honestly I dont think anyone knows.
If you had a DWI/DUI they may just deny so they dont have to take a chance.
