In May my wife and I will be going to Thailand for 7 weeks on a Non-Immigrant O Visa – we are 77 and from the United States. Unfortunately, we can not stay long enough to season our money in the bank since we are going to Africa to do a gorilla trek and our dates are set. Our goal on this trip is to set up bank accounts to deposit 800K into each account using wise. We have rented an Airbnb condo and have received from the owner the 7-week lease, her ID card, and her ownership of the condo document. In December we will return on a new Non-Immigrant O Visa and after two months apply for an extended stay permit for a year.
Our Problem: I am reading in Facebook that Kasikornbank (K-Bank) and other banks will not allow us to open bank accounts with that short a lease (even though we will have a TM30, Certificate of Residence, photos, and Thai phone numbers linked to our passports).
I see 3 possible outcomes:
1. Kasikornbank will allow us to open accounts.
2. We have to rent a cheap condo while we are gone for a year ($300/mo) just to have a lease.
3. Use an agent.
From your experience, will Kasikornbank allow us to open an account. Are some branches or cities better to use? If not, and we have to use an agent, what would the cost be using our own money and not the agent’s.
Thai Residency Certificate (Bangkok) .. , should one come to pick it up on the very same day specified on the receipt or you may come on another day as well .. ? Thank you all
Regarding a residency certificate I understand that the first 90 day report must have been completed, before applying. Yet I read on various expat posts that immigration are accepting just the TM30, passport, visa, etc, without the TM47. Is this now the case and is it written somewhere official?
- My foreign bank account reference letter and bank statement
- my home country ID card
- My foreign bank credit cards
- Thai speaking friend with me
- My US company incorporation certificate - I own the company
Unbelievable, with all these documents, they all rejected me for no reason. The staffs were all rude to me. I went to all the banks in Bangkok, HQs. You name it, all the banks.
Some people at the front of the bank laughed at me. It's annoying me. I will go through with agent soon.
Does anyone being treated like this or anyone able to open bank account with DTV visa successfully?
Good day; I have visited Thailand yearly for the last 15 years and approaching retirement in the next couple of years. I am looking to buy a new car next year cash and would appreciate any advice please- would I need to hold a particular visa for this and if so should this be in place at the same time a deposit is required? Thank you in advance
Can I submit a bank statement as proof of address for either a thai international driving licence or a residency ceritficate from the immigration office?
After much toing and froing, see last post. I got all the paperwork for a Thai driving license. I should get it this Thursday. I'd like to buy a second hand car now, what do I need to transfer the ownership of the car to me?
