There was some discussion earlier about DTV and 90 day reporting. Although there wasn’t really any doubt.
Immigration officer made sure to remind me while applying residency certificate that : “Don’t forget 90 day report!”
Also, bank account on DTV IS possible in Bangkok with medical certificate.
Got bank account yesterday on the first branch I tried. My thai friend had called another branch (Bangkok Bank) for me that stated:
- Medical certificate confirming hospital treatment over 3 months AND
- Visa longer than 3 months
Resident certificate also possible without 90 day report at Immigration in Bangkok now. 200 Baht, mailed within 7 daya.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion highlights the importance of the 90-day reporting requirement for expats in Thailand, with a reminder from an immigration officer during the residency certificate application. It also confirms that expats can open bank accounts in Bangkok with a medical certificate and a valid long-term visa. Notably, expats can obtain a residency certificate without having completed the 90-day report for a fee of 200 Baht, with processing and mailing completed within 7 days.
