I will be coming to Thailand in the new year, where I'll be taking ownership of a condo. It's the 49% foreign ownership thing. I won't be retiring then. What would be the best visa, does this count as an investment?
If you buy a condo or villa, does that count as the 800k thai baht needed for a visa? I read something that said that once, but never saw it anywhere else, so I wanted to be sure.
I am currently 'living' in Bangkok on my APEC business travel card which allows me to stay in Thailand for up to 90 days. But I usually have to travel out for business and leave at around 45-60 days mark for about 2 weeks and return back. So far, I haven't had any trouble with the immigration officers. But I reckon I can't continue to do this for long.
Because of this, I am thinking of applying for a DTV visa in Jakarta, Hanoi or Manila. But unfortunately, I can't apply under the remote worker category because my company will not certify in writing that I am allowed to work remotely in case the embassy asks that.
However I have I am a shareholder and a director of an investment holding company with 2 other business partners. Maybe I can apply on this basis. But I think it will be hard to provide further documents as I don't really receive a salary from that company.
Perhaps I should just go to Jakarta and apply under the soft power category using that 5 year Thai Botany seminars.
Does anyone has any suggestions and what's my best course of action?
So, firstly, I am already married to a Thai woman and have been coming to Thailand for years on visa exemptions (US citizen). Next year, I'm planning to buy some land in her name to start building our house. Before that, obviously, I will need a visa.
I started looking into the marriage visa requirements, but it seems nearly impossible to accomplish due to the under consideration time. I work 2 months on a vessel as an engineer followed by 2 months off.
I have been looking at the LTR and DTV. Mainly, my question is does anyone have any experience trying to apply for either of these based on remote work from another country such as I just explained? Or is this requirement limited to internet- based remote work?
For whatever relevance it may hold, I will be sending and can keep a moderate amount of Thai baht if it is necessary.
Going to apply for a DTV Visa in Yangon, Myanmar. What's the latest update on the application process? Can I use a bank statement from my accounts for the past couple of days as proof of funds?
