Husband is 51, planning on coming to Thailand next month. Wondering pros and cons of applying for Retirement Visa before we leave or when we arrive? I will be applying as a dependent spouse and we have an 11 year old as a dependent visa to my husband’s retirement visa. Just starting to travel and planning on hitting most of Asia over the next few years with Thailand as “home base”. Thoughts?

Im landing in BKK on the 1-12-25, I want to stay a minimum of 90 days in TH, I’m 71 y/o I’ll have travel/health insurance,. I’ve got 3 options,1- enter visa exempt and extend it by 30 days to give me 90 days,.2-enter with a TR visa from uk giving me the same options,.3-entering with an o retirement visa giving me 90 days, what would you recommend ?. My last visit to TH was for 222 days in 2022/2023, came in on a TR visa from uk and extended and border bounced, I’m concerned this could be an issue if I arrive on 1-12-25 and imo pick up on it.

I've been approved for a DTV and already have yearly travel insurance but which has minimal cover and never been claimed on etc.

What's the best option here for spending the year in Thailand as a very healthy UK male in his 50's?

Thanks in advance.

My family and I are coming to Koh Samui for a 6-month stay. What's the recommended type of medical insurance? Is travel insurance or a local/domestic plan better for a long-term trip? We need coverage for sickness and emergencies. Appreciate the advice!

Looking for advice re insurance to support O-A visa from UK Thai Embassy in London. I have previously (for many years, lastly in 2023) used a UK insurance company alongside their completion of the required certificate. This has in the past always been accepted and the visa issued. This year, I have received the attached insurance rejection message. It seems that now a ‘health insurance policy’ is required, rather than a ‘travel insurance’ policy with included medical cover. Does anyone have any experience of this and know any ways to resolve it? Failing this, what’s a cheap insurance company to offer me the cover? - I’ve already bought the UK insurance and it can’t be cancelled.

Thai Embassy/ The Royal Thai Consulate-General would like to request for additional documents as follows:
