Need travel insurance for a trip outside of 🇹🇭. Allianz won't issue to tourist visa holders like DTV. Advice greatly appreciated
Answer summary
The user is seeking advice on obtaining travel insurance for a trip outside Thailand, noting that Allianz reportedly does not issue policies to DTV visa holders. Comments reveal varied experiences with insurance companies, with many suggesting alternatives like AXA, ACS, and Roojai. Some users assert that visa status is not generally a barrier for obtaining travel insurance, while others express concerns about policy terms and potential claims issues linked to DTV status. Overall, it appears there are multiple insurance options available that do not strictly limit coverage based on visa type.

You mentioned a very good point. Reimbursement direct deposit in bank, DTV can't have bank account.

I used Aligis, last year. I purchased plan in US. So far, I got reimbursed 2 claims after few back n forth typical insurance games. I got direct deposited in my Chase bank account.

same here, I'm also using an insurance from hy home country. Used it two times so far, once for a dental extraction and the other for emergency rabies vaccine after getting bitten by a stray cat. I paid in full at Bangkok Hospital and then the company deposited in my home country bank account withing a couple of days.

in theory is one is to get reimbursed, they only would deposit/wire the money to a bank account under the person's name, but DTVers aren't allowed to have bank accounts in Thailand (some have, as they had those from before), so I don't know how would that work?

OP
Toni Saari no mate, not trolling. The requirement to have a non-tourist visa is in the terms and conditions of the Allianz travel insurance policy. Sure they might let me pay for it and give me a piece of paper, but what's gonna happen if I should need to claim? No doubt deviating from the terms and conditions would void my claim and I'd be SOL. Would love to hear your experience if you've been through this yourself.

What? Visa status doesn’t matter, they don’t even ask.

Use one from your home country. Most if not all insurance companies allow their nationals to sign up online. I did that when I visited Japan.

Why would they care about your visa status in other countries, in any country? Nonsense. Nothing to do with DTV what this group is for. Trolls lacking on topics? :)

What makes you think they won’t issue to DTV holders? I just registered for my family for a trip to the UK. My visa status wasn’t even discussed.

@Elías *******
yes I am. I called also to check and the only requirements are that the trip starts and ends in Thailand and that you have a Thailand address. My visa status isn’t requested or relevant to eligibility.
