Subject: Question regarding entering Thailand on the last days of E-Visa validity.

Hello everyone, I need some advice regarding my Thailand E-Visa. My visa validity expires on July 10. Due to some unavoidable reasons, I couldn't travel earlier.

Now, I am planning to fly and enter Thailand on July 8 or 9. I know that upon arrival, immigration officers grant a stay permit stamp (usually 30 or 60 days).

My question is: Will there be any issues at airline check-in or Thailand immigration if I enter just 1-2 days before the visa expires? Will they stamp me in for the regular duration of stay despite the visa expiring on July 10?

If anyone has recently traveled under a similar situation, please share your experience. Thanks in advance!

Answer summary
The user inquires about entering Thailand on the last days of their E-Visa validity, specifically whether there will be issues with airline check-in or immigration despite entering just before the expiration date. Comments confirm that as long as the user enters Thailand before the visa's expiration, they should be stamped in for the valid duration of their stay. It's also noted that the length of stay granted upon entry depends on the type of visa.

I could be wrong here but the first thing I would ask is what country's passport are you flying-in under. There are differences if you fly in on a visa and visa exempt. One of them will definitely require a return flight. They may not enforce it but at the airport is a horrible time to find out you have an issue.

Andrew Patron He said he has a visa already which is due to expire a few days after he arrives. He is not going to have any problems

David Cook yes but if he comes in under his visa, he has to leave in two days or risk getting caught overstaying his visa.

But if he comes in under exemption, he has to fulfill those requirements. He can’t come in under the visa and then ask him for 60 days visa exemption.

But I have been writing before.

David Cook Ok, I thought it was the last day he could be in country. But it's the last day for him to arrive and start his visa. THanks

Donald Campbell I didn't offer advice. I clearly stated I could be wrong in my questioning. But initially the comment was referring to people saying the visa and the visa exemption could be interchangeable. And this I know is not the case.

Andrew Patron Wrong it is the validity of his visa that expires. if he activates it before expiry he gets to stay for whatever time the visa is for

Andrew Patron if he arrives before his Visa expires, he will be stamped in for the amount of days for that particular Visa.

For example, 60 days for a tourist visa, 90 days for a Non O visa, or 1 year for a Non-OA visa.

As long as you enter before its validity expires you should get stamped in for what ever length of stay its good for, ie 60 days etc. The validity date is the date you need to use it to enter by. How long you can stay after entering depends on what type of visa it is.

You will get 60 days on arrival mate…no problem! And you could extend another 30 days at immigration if you wish. 👍

Richard Cowling He can't extend for 30 days if he wishes. He has to apply for the extention of stay and it's issued at the discretion of the Immigration Office

Richard Cowling He is not entering on visa exempt, He has a visa already

David Cook the same 60 day entry stamp applies, plus the 30 day extension option. It is no different than the current visa exempt entry days.

As long as you enter Thailand before the visa expires, there's no issue.
