Hi everyone, I am British and have lived in Thailand working remotely for many years already. I am back in the UK now and was getting ready to apply for the DTV visa from London but have recently read in here how they are requesting tax statements / returns. I don't pay tax so I would not be able o show that info - I don't make the threshold in the UK - I do have tax returns to prove this. My question is, would it be best for me to apply for the soft power instead of the workation to avoid any tax issues / would I need to actually be paying tax for this to be accepted?

My First DTV Entry Experience: Flying from New Delhi to Bangkok

At New Delhi airport, the flight check-in desk asked for my return ticket. I showed them a dummy one. Then, I asked the staff member if she wanted to see my visa as well. She looked surprised and asked, “You have a visa?” I showed it to her, and she had no further questions.

In New Delhi, airline staff often ask for hotel bookings, return tickets, and, in some cases, proof of funds. However, at immigration, I was not asked any questions.

Upon arrival in Bangkok, I simply handed the officer my DTV printout and passport. Without any questions, she stamped my passport with 180 days of stay.

Has anyone experienced a DTV visa border bounce to Laos by train? I’d really appreciate it if you could share your experience, as this is my first time extending my DTV visa.

If I want to spend less than 180 days a year in thailand, isn’t it a good option to do 60 days exemption visa with 30 days extension twice a year?

Hi everyone, I am retiring in 2026 and I am planning to move to Chiangmai. I will retire with a monthly pension and Health Insurance and want to start planning which visa would be best for me. I visit Thailand twice a year and would like to start working with an agent that can help me open a Bank Account in Thailand nectbtime I visit (December 2025). Does anyone here, know a trustworthy agent in Chiangmai who can help me with this?

4 days until my flight. No news from the HCMC embassy. Getting a bit nervous. Decided to log in and check the status. Guess what... They are waiting for additional documents since Feb 25th! Did not receive any emails about the request even though was emailed last two times they needed additional documents. Checked spam. Nothing. So they just forgot to notify.

Wish me luck!

And don't forget to check thaievisa website for status updates because notifications are not guaranteed as it turns out

I received a request today for the following documents from the Thai embassy in Hanoi after applying on Friday (quick turnaround):

1.) Photo of my entry stamp - no issue there

2.) "Updated bank statement till the present."

The issue is #2, no bank I'm aware of provides mid-month or partial month statements up until a random day of the month. The most recent statement I'm able to download from by bank ends on February 28th. For context, I already provided 6 months of bank statement upfront going from January and back.

How am I supposed to provide a "bank statement until the present" when there's obviously no statement available going all the way to March 3rd?

[Update: They called for an interview this morning, but I am currently out of Laos. If I don’t attend the interview, will it cause any issues? (Just asking.)

For the requested documents, I had submitted my Laos visa and entry stamp.]

At 12:30 PM today, the status changed to 'Processing - Pending Approval,' but now, at 8:30 PM, it is still the same.

My question is, how long does it normally take for the status to change? And at this stage, do they usually call for an interview?

DTV Soft Power Application Cancelled.

Applied at New Delhi Embassy on 26th Feb.

Further document request regarding sources of income on 28th Feb.

Submitted Annual Tax Statement (Form 26AS), which records amount paid and tax deducted, of current and last financial years on 1st March. Stated in a cover letter that I'm unemployed and intend to fund my stay in Thailand using my savings and any income from investments. Included transaction statements of gold investments and crypto.

Received notification that my visa application has been cancelled on 3rd March.

I had 500k THB in my bank account for less than a month. I don't think I made any mistake while filling out the visa application on the website.
