Hello, we are a family of 5 coming from Canada. Our kids will be going to international school, so they will be on ED visa. Just confirming if both parents will be able to apply for Guardian visa? The school advised we can both apply for Guardian, however I'm seeing people saying that only one parent can apply for Guardian.

If we apply for one Guardian and one ED (learn Thai language) for the parents, what would the financial requirement be? Wondering if anyone has done this recently and has experience. Thanks for your help!

Hi,

In June my husband, our 13 yo child (we have accepted an offer for him at an international school there) and I are moving from the U.K. to CM. We are both 50+. We have already found a condo and are going to arrange the lease before our arrival. What visa should we apply for e.g. guardian, retirement or other? What is the procedure? Should we contact Thai embassy in the U.K. before we leave? Thank you 🙏 🙏 🙏

Change of schools

Hi,

I couldn’t find any posts regarding this topic, so I’m starting a new one.

Is there someone who has changed schools in Thailand with ED / Guardian visa being cancelled by the previous school and “transferred” to the new one? What was your experience like?

We just got the full year visa last month and decided to change schools. Did you need the full set of docs as for the first prolongation? (Birth certificates, bank docs, photos, school docs etc etc), or is there a more lean process to it?

We are in Phuket and got sparse information from both schools so far. Planning to go to immigration shortly and would like to be prepared, so any info is useful. Thanks!

Non- O visa Re-entry.

When we got our 1 year visa in October my husband thought he paid for a single re-entry. When I came back from Japan today I found out he did not 😭. I assume there is no way to fix this retroactively?

I’m willing to fly out and redo my visa (guardian visa). Will my child need to come with me to do this? His is still valid.

Also, my 3 kids and husband have visas that renew in October.

Can I in theory leave the country a couple times and come back and then apply closer so our visa dates line up? I have a 60 day tourist visa already and am already planning to go to Singapore in June and Indonesia in October

Or can I renew mine early so all our dates are together? We live in Bangkok and would love to avoid going to Chaeng Wattana as much as possible.

This is a learning curve as we have previously had a business visa and they did all this for us.

Hi all, we are trying to decide which visa is best for our situation. My husband owns a company in the US and will be working remotely. His clientele is 100% American. My son will be attending an international school for his last three years of HS, so he will be on an education visa. I'm planning to not work for at least the first year of moving. Should we get a Guardian visa or a DTV?

Hello, we are new to Chiang Mai, have been here for 9 weeks. I’m here with my husband and two kids, our kids are enrolled in an international school and will be getting ED visas soon. Through that, my husband and I can attain Guardian visas for the school year. We are unfamiliar with the process of applying for Guardian visas and will need to leave Thailand soon to reset our tourist visas while we are in the process of applying for them. My kids have appointment on November 3rd to change their tourist visas over to ED visas. At that point, we assume we can start the Guardian visas process. We were also told we would each need to have 486,000 baht each in a Thai bank account. We were also told we may need to have our kids’ birth certificates notarized, which we don’t have the original copies here with us so would not be able to do. Could anyone recommend a good Thai Bank and any advice regarding the original birth certificates? Could my husband and I leave every 2-3 months to reset our tourist visas? Is that an option for staying here long term?
