I applied for a DTV in Ho Chi Minh city. Got approved after 16 days as there were holidays. After I got my approval, my spouse applied for it. Now, the visa hasn't been approved yet and our Vietnam visa is expiring in a few days. What should we do if my spouse didn't get the DTV visa before the Vietnam visa expires.

Hey guys, my partner will be applying for the DTV (workation) this winter at the embassy in Madrid, Spain (he’s Spanish).

We are currently already in Thailand, but will fly to Spain for the holidays and stay for a month. Given that a lot of people report slow processing time at the embassy in Madrid, I’m not sure whether applying on the 19th of December (the day we arrive) will be sufficient time. We fly back to Thailand on January 21st… it’s just over a month but of course there’s the holidays in between.

Does anyone have any experience with filing their application while still in another country? In other words: could my partner send in his application before December 19th or will they check whether he was actually in Spain on that day?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Arrived at Chiang Mai airport this afternoon, 3rd entry on my DTV. Sawadee kaa, immigration lady pointed to the finger scanning machine, no questions asked, and gave me a 180 day stamp. No need to show a tdac or DTV visa, it was all in their computer.

Meanwhile I saw several people in the queue in front of me getting a grilling about how many days stay, hotel booking, and onward flight. One guy was getting interrogated for a long time about his “friend’s” address where he was staying in CM, why he was coming for short frequent trips, whether he was working in Laos, and whether he had a Thai wife.

Hello, your help is much appreciated!

I entered Thailand 3 weeks ago with the plan of getting a visa on arrival, as I did last year. I was in Thailand for 6 months doing visa runs and never overstayed. Everything was in rule. Long story short, they asked me to buy a ticket to leave Thailand and gave me only 45 days instead of the usual 60 days.

I would like to apply for a DTV visa, but at the moment, I don’t have the required funds in my bank account for at least 3 months.

I am going to India for 3 weeks, and my question is: Do you think I can apply for a METV to come back to Thailand, and meanwhile get my papers sorted, to then apply for a proper DTV?

Thoughts?

My husband and I just applied for the online tourist visa. We are coming in 2 weeks for a 1 week vacation. They rejected our visas because the pictures I uploaded weren’t good enough. It was a huge pain in the butt. My question is can we just show up with our documents and get in? We are from the US and paid the $40 each already

Update – LONDON Work-cation DTV Approved 🎉

Just wanted to thank everyone who gave advice – my situation was stressful, but my visa has been approved a day before my flight which feels amazing!

Timeline

• Applied: Fri 5 Sept

• Request for extra docs: Mon 8 Sept

• Interview request email: 15 Sept (11pm)

• Interview attended: 16 Sept

• Told to expect 10-day wait: 18 Sept

• Visa approved: 22 Sept (11pm)

Documents requested:

• A letter confirming I can work online, but not for clients or employers in Thailand- I had already done this but for some reason they asked again

• A clearer photo

Interview experience:

Because I don’t live directly in London, I had to book a last minute flight the night before – stressful but worth it. The interview itself was very straightforward. I arrived 30 mins early, got a ticket for the queue, and was seen before my time at one of the regular booths in the waiting area. They asked me the same questions I’d already covered in my letter, plus why I changed my application from Soft Power to Work-cation.

The staff were kind and professional and the atmosphere felt very relaxed.

Context:

I work for myself online.

Hello all,

I’m in need of some advice…

In the past I’ve never had any issues or questions asked about my travels in Thailand.

Pretty much all of my time has been spent in Koh Tao diving.

In 2016 I had a non-immigrant B visa but eventually sold my share in the company and went back home. The rest of my travels have been on Tourist visa’s or visa on arrival(exemption).

Most recently I did two border crossings in Ranong to Myanmar and back in december 2023 and then march 2024 and left the country in april 2024.

Last week I re-entered Thailand with a new tourist visa which was granted to me by Thai Embassy in my home country. Upon arrival the IO asked me questions about why I’m here and when I’m leaving. ( I was in Transit on Bangkok International airport with connection to Samui) My answer was here for vacation and I’m not sure yet when I will leave. He then looked at my passport which was brand new with no stamps but saw in his computer that I’ve done two border-runs and asked me: you think is okay you go to Burma for 1 day and come back same day? You think this is normal. I didn’t know what to answer him but he took me to another IO and she was a bit more understanding. She told me I had to get a DTV visa if I want to stay longer time in Thailand and I explained to her that I’m not here for any cultural soft power activities. I had to book my outbound flight on the spot for when my 60 days are up. She said next time better for you to have a DTV when coming to Thailand.

My questions are:

- Do you think I’m marked or blacklisted in the system?

- Will IO in Koh Tao allow me to extend with 30 days and will they see the information about my booked outbound flight?

- Where would I best go abroad to after my 60 or 90 days to apply for DTV visa?

Anyone has similar experiences?

Thank you kap.

Hi guys, I will be changing employers soon in Bangkok and my current HR has advised that my family and myself need to go to Chaengwattana immigration in person to cancel our Non B's. They will provide all the documents to do so...

My question is, has anyone got any personal experience in doing this? How difficult is the process ( I know I probably can't get an exact answer to this question).

Lastly, would it be better to let an agent do this, as it means my son will miss a day of school (he won't be complaining though hah) and I really dislike going to this place in general! Any recommendations for a visa agent if this is a better route to take?

Any decent advice would be appreciated.

I have a question about the LTR-WP visa procurement process AFTER one has received Endorsement Approval from BOI and one wants to travel to Bangkok to get it stamped on the passport.

We want to fill out the on-line form on LTR's webiste but one of the fields to be filled in the form asks for the entry date and duration of stay, which will be based on the STAMP the immigration puts when we land. Now our current plan is to be in BKK on Nov 13th which is already 55 days out from today.

To complicate the matters, the Endorsement Qualification email also said that we have 60days from the date of the Endorsement to fill out this form and submit it for getting a visa date issued by the immigration/visa service. This leaves us a VERY short window of 4-5 days upon arrival to submit any additional documents they'll tell us only after our submisision.

Has anyone gotten an LTR-WP visas and had to travel to Bangkok to get it issued? If so, I would like an opportunity to understate the exact process. TIA

EDIT: Sorry, I have been QUALIFIED for Endorsement by the BOI but have NOT received the formal Endorsement Letter. Before that step I need to fill out an application online and my question is can that be filed before I enter Thailand and if so, what should i fill in the field where it asks "Duration of Stay in Thailand" coz my understanding is that the duration will be determined at the port of entry (BKK) when I get there. Is that correct, or can I put 60d because I hold a passport that allows me visa-free entry for 60d?
