You know my vote Tod. You have helped me countless times. Some people just have zero sense of humor or can't handle themselves emotionally when they break the rules of this group. They must be very lonely to make any issue about you, the reason this group is successful. The good advice you provide I extend to others because that advice is dead on and helps navigating the complex pathways to keeping on the right side of that department.

There's multiple versions of that retirement visa. And you don't state where your residence is. So for instance if it were BKK you could leave the country get the tourist visa come back stamped in then apply for retirement that would give you another 90 then apply for the extension for 1 year. So august plus 60 plus 90 plus 1 year. There is no 3 month waiting for retirement to qualify unless places like Chonburi.

bit of confusion here again to repeat some others if you obtain a Non O INSIDE THAILAND there is NO insurance requirement (of course you should get insurance anyway). Hope that's clear. There are 4 types of visas that people call retirement....OA O, O (in TH), X

I was recommended to try to transit if by air to Chiang Mai if I wasn't prepared to go via a border crossing. I didn't have any ED visa myself. That's just to get in, beyond that you have to make arrangements for appropriate visa for long term stay.
