Report: First timer family of 3 (one child) getting a tourist visa after a couple of prior work permit related visa and extensions of stay. Hong Kong office. Very straightforward. Supplied copies of passport, application form, 300 HKD cash x 3 for us. Questions about future work intention ( "if that possibility arises I would consider it" ). Asked for 85 days but they said 60 days. No proof of flight out or fund proof requested (which we were prepared for anyway). Dropped off at noon. Picked up almost noon next day. Hours 930am to 1230pm. Dont go as late as we did. Copy place downstairs but we used hotel copier. Photo booth in admiralty underground subway station for 50 HKD which is fast. Thanks all your help, group, and of course, especially Tod Daniels.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A family of three successfully obtained a tourist visa from the Thai embassy in Hong Kong after previously holding work-related visas. They found the application process straightforward, requiring only copies of their passports, an application form, and 300 HKD each. They requested an 85-day visa but were issued a 60-day one. No proof of outgoing flight or funds was requested. They advised against visiting the embassy later in the day.
I didnt request a 85 day visa. There is another field that asks how many days you want in the country. It is tied to the outgoing flight booked. We booked it 85 days away.
You said you asked for an 85 day visa? All tourist visas are 60 days. Just curious, did you think visas are granted for a custom number of days depending on what you request?
