Drove to vientiane border from pattaya, drank 1 drink and came back to Thailand. When I left Thailand the IO lady was looking at the computer quite a few moments, I didnt ask why but I was thinking because I did my TDAC 5minutes before going to her 🤔
When I got back, the IO wanted to tell me that my visa is DTV and I will get 180days, that was quite funny, that was all the conversation we had 😆 never experienced explaining before, for 4years
Why I post is the budget;
Car 700thb
Gas 2500thb (honda city)
Laos visa 1700thb(+100thb because i forgot to take passport picture) thats $52 if you pay with dollars its $40
Leave your car next the 711 parking lot, 50thb. Tuktuk to bus station 50thb (i offered he accepted), bus 30thb each way
Thats a total of 5160thb for another 180days. And about 24h of time (had 2 of us, each driving one way)
I also got a speeding ticket of 1000thb, they set a trap at the mountain speedlimit lowered to 40 (altho same time says cars 60, who knows) when we were rolling down only using break 😅, a lot of fog so cant see much, i was following car ahead of me because i could see the lights, for "some reason" they looked at him and let him go and picked me 🤣
Also got picket at 1 of the 6 big stops we encountered...
Hi Group. In Laos getting stamp fo non immigrant O.
Arrive today through friendship bridge Nong khai.
Got passport stamped. Now they say at border I need to go Laos Embassy to get Visa to stay here 2 days...They are closed tomorrow Sunday so I need to go Monday get visa than head back Thailand.
I drove from Chiang Mai to Chiang Khong via Chiang Rai (298km), planned to stay a night and do the border in the morning.
During the evening at the bar a lady was asking me about my visa run, saying I need to stay for two days ect. I explained my visa situation and she called a family member who works as a immigration officer and checked with him if it's possible to return the same day. He said yes completely fine.
They did say however NOT to tell Laos immigration that you are returning the same day, as they will try charge you extra.
Anyway got my VOA for Laos. The process there for this has improved a lot since the last time I was at the border. Just bring USD.
Walked into Laos and U-Turned straight back to Thailand and had no problem.
Thai IO was super chill, I gave him my printed E-Visa, he asked a few questions about my address ect that he could see in the system from the TDAC, and he was curious about my online work. Stamped in back to thailand no problem.
Drove back to Chiang Mai via Phayao 312km. 1021 -> 120 Road. HIGHLY recommend this road, I haven't been impressed by Thailands landscape like this in a long time!
I am on a DTV visa. I am in the city of "Khong Chiam", near the border with Laos.
I want to do a Border run & I wanted to ask someone who knows this land border:
There is a border crossing 30 min from here to Laos ("Chong Mek International Border").
Is it possible to cross into Laos and get a visa on arrival, stay a few days in Laos, maybe in the city of Pakse, and return to the same border back to Thailand & get a new stamp on my DTV ?
They give visa on arrival ?
Do they make problems at this land border for DTV visa holders who have stayed a few days in Laos and want to return to Thailand ?
*BTW - I have a rented scooter. I'm sure they not let me in with it into Laos (or maybe yes ?!).
Can I park there at the border my scooter safely for a few days until I come back into Thailand with a new visa ?
The information in this group helped me a lot. Got mine in Laos (workcation category).

Arrived Laos on weekends, submitted application and received payment QR.
Next day - went to Embassy and paid visa fee in person (beforehand print out the QR and go early if you want to avoid long queue). Received document check status in the afternoon.
Next day - pending approval status.
Next day - received email to come for interview (interview date is a week later)
Enjoy vacation for the week and then go to interview and received eVisa the next day.
For the interview, just got asked a few questions about my work experiences and previous travel history. Also asked me to show my mobile application and confirmed the bank account profile and my salary transactions.
The process as a whole is quite smooth, thanks to the previous posts with helpful information.
I'm going to apply for a dtv in Muay Thai. Please tell me the Muay Thai gym where I can get a dtv among the places close to On Nut. And where should I get a visa between Laos and Vietnam?
