it depends on the country. Apparently for thai women there has been a history of them over staying, so I've been told, which is why they are very strict. My wife was refused a tourist visa before we were married, even with children and being a business owner here. After we were married we decided to try again in Chiang Mai before going the CR1 route, which we did not want to do. We were surprised she was approved. She follows thai Facebook pages and has friends that despite being married to a foreigner that has lived in Thailand for 10+ years was still rejected for a tourist visa.
it doesn't work that way. You have to apply online for all visas. The visa to apply for when already married is the CR1 and will require her to live in the US for 6 months while waiting for the green card. It is also taking up to 1 year for those visas to be approved.
we're not talking about sending money. The op was asking about withdrawing money from the atm and using that banks atm conversion. For US dollars the conversion the atm gives me is always at least 2-3 baht per dollar less than what my home bank gives. When you add in the 220 baht fee it ends up being close to a 10% loss.
Perhaps I shouldn't use absolutes, since one may have a crappy bank at home that gives a terrible conversion, but I think that's rare and most people would agree to never accept the conversion at the atm.
that's for retirement. For marriage it is only 400k at time of application. It needs to be seasoned for 2 months when applying for the 1 year extension. After that it can go to zero and be fine.
The Thailand pass and a visa/visa exemption/visa on arrival are completely different things. All non Thais need to apply for the Thai pass and is to ensure you meet the current covid requirements. Whether you can then enter without acquiring a visa beforehand depends on the country your passport was issued from.
If there is a different option to choose between a foreigner and a Thai citizen select the one for a Thai citizen. It's worked for me in the past at the Chicago embassy after hearing someone saying worked in LA also.
I thought the scrapping of the thai pass is still being discussed and is not official yet? They've also talked about replacing it with a vaccine passport.
