I have my first 90 day report coming up in August. However, I will be out of the country. I'm currently on a 1 year non-o extension based on marriage. I thought I've read in the past that I do not need to do the 90 day report if I leave the country and that my new countdown for my next 90 days will start when I return. Is this the case? Is there anything I need to do regarding this before I leave Thailand?

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you are leaving Thailand on your first 90-day reporting period, you do not need to complete the report as long as you obtain a re-entry permit before departing. Your 90-day countdown will reset upon your return, allowing you to avoid the report as long as you leave the country before completing 90 consecutive days.

Hope you get your visa stamped by immigration before you leave, otherwise they’ll get you for overstaying and will get a fine and will not allow you entry to Thailand, also you’ll be unable to return for 1 year. Happened to me 2 years ago
yes, I have gone thru the whole process of COE and ASQ before and am following all the news on Phuket and the other schemes. Currently planning for Phuket.
You only need to do 90 day reports when you're in the country 90 consecutive days. If you leave and come back in with a 1 year visa 90 days always restarts from when you enter.
If you leave every 90 days you never have to do them.
