I'm a bit confused by these two graphics. It mentions counter k to apply for a visa exemption or visa on arrival. I thought that even before the virus and lockdown that this needed to be done at the airport or border before being allowed past immigration, so how on earth does one apply at the temporary office and what are the requirements and eligibility?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the confusion surrounding the application process for visa exemptions and visas on arrival in Thailand, especially in light of new temporary procedures. The commenters clarify that the mentioned temporary office is used for extensions based on existing visas rather than the initial applications for visa exemptions or on arrival, which typically occur at airports or borders.

We tell for a long time on this page there are over 70 Immigration offices nationwide and we can not keep up with small changes in each and every office.

yes, you visit the Immigration Office where your address is registered, So only people living in Bangkok area visit this office

if you need to get an Extension of Stay in Bangkok, there are different counters based on different ways to get into Thailand,

People who came into Thailand and used the way as mentioned on this poster have to go to Muang Thon Tani office

thanks for confirming. The graphic isn't the most clear since it could say "extension services provided for" instead of "provided services". Makes it seem as though one can apply for the visas, not just the extensions.

Thanks for the information, that is pretty much what I thought. There are still flights back to the US so I will not be able to get a letter. I've looked into the options you've mentioned and others. I've also talked to several agencies that have provided options they said are "legal", like a volunteer visa without volunteering or education visa without attending classes. You just have to pay more. They insisted it was legal even though I sent them articles that clearly stated it wasn't. Another said they could get me a refugee visa. Needless to say I will not go any route that is illegal as I plan on getting married and living here on a more long term visa in the next year and do not want to risk getting blacklisted. I've reserved a flight back before prices sky rocket from everyone realizing they have no choice but to leave. I expect ill be stuck in the US for at least 6-12 months as no one wants Americans coming into their country because of the virus.

I think i figured it out, it is just applying for an extension if you already have one of those. Not actually applying for them?
