Wonder if someone can advise - looking at traveling to Thailand in June but would also like to visit Vietnam and Cambodia. I’m looking at traveling for 8 wks so will arrive in Bangkok and will look to stay 3 wks then move on for couple of weeks and then back. Will the Tourist visa be okay ? As I won’t stay longer than 30days ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Traveling to Thailand for 8 weeks while also visiting Vietnam and Cambodia is possible with a Tourist visa. As a UK traveler, you can enter Thailand without a visa and receive a 30-day visa exemption. It's essential to have an exit ticket for the airline, and you can extend your stay once by 30 days if needed. However, if you plan to leave Thailand and re-enter, note that a Tourist visa is usually a single entry unless you obtain a re-entry permit or opt for a multi-entry Tourist visa.

And I think Charlie, when coming in with a tourist visa, you have to get a re-entry permit before you leave Thailand for outside Thailand trips ! This because a Tourist visa normaly is Single Entry. However there ARE Multi entry Tourist visas.

your actually more likely to be asked and denied boarding by the airline than immigration.

Yes they do check. Not all airlines, not all routes. Short haul most don’t care. Long haul and many do. You don’t want to be the one having to buy a ticket out at the checkin desk, just because you’re not prepared.

yes, they check because if the passenger gets denied entry, it's the airlines responsibility to fly them back ( or onwards).

A tourist visa would be fine, but if you are From the UK as your profile suggests you can enter Thailand with no visa and they would give you 30 days visa exempt. You’d probably need to have a ticket out within the 30 days for your airline to allow you to board. You could also extend that once by 30 days if your travel plans change.

yes have a ticket out within 30 days on 1st visit and also on 2nd visit. Previously when visiting Phuket for a short holiday I completed a visa on the plane I think. Will I still have to do this (think they handed them out on plane )

The thing you fill out on the plane isn’t a visa. It’s called a TM6 arrival departure card. Everyone other than Thai nationals have to fill them out regardless of visa or exempt.
