For the thai marriage visa it states you need to meet the financial requirements each year you want to renew it. Does that mean each year you need to deposit a new 400,000 baht or simply maintain a balance of 400,000 baht?

It also states you need proof of income of 40,000baht per month. What is needed as proof? My income will come from the withdrawal from my 401k and other cash investments.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To renew the Thai marriage visa, you need to maintain a balance of 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account for at least 2 months before applying each year. Additionally, you can provide proof of income of 40,000 baht per month to meet the requirements.

Do not need to show monthly income? Correct?

Most excellent, thank you Tod!

there are two ways to show proof of funds to get a year extension at the immigration office based on marriage

One is to bank 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for your extension and the other is to show 40K baht a month in income.

Note that you can ALSO get a year-long multiple-entry visa based on marriage outside the country, at HCMC or Savannakhet. These applications do not require you to show proof of income, but you will have to leave the country every 90 days after you come back.

This thread is about getting a yearly EXTENSION OF STAY from the immigration office not running to a thai consulate to get a year-multi-Non-O visa :O

But thanx

Okay think of it this way

You CANNOT renew a yearly extension of stay <- that's what you get from the immigration office every year. You apply for a NEW one every year (even though you might have done it for years and years0. Because of that you need to meet the requirements EVERY year and that means if you're using banked money method having 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months EVERY YEAR before you apply for your extension.

great!!! Thank you. It sounds like as long as I show 400k baht in a bank for at least 2 months I'm ok. Doesn't matter if it is the same 400k baht from the previous year.

Always 400k on your account and you’re good
