Book directly with the local carrier and forget about Expedia. They can’t help you.

The flights are pretty cheap.

Get an earlier flight on Thai Smile or Air Asia directly to BKK.

Dump the original flight or spend a long time on the phone trying to change it.

Forget about going to DMK, it’s an hour from BKK and not any cheaper.

If your flight to TPE leaves really early, come to BKK the night before and stay at a local hotel.

Perhaps you don’t want to buy the minimalist Thai insurance, but there are other types of international health insurance policies.

I stay often at AirBnb places and no one ever asks for passport or ID.

If you travel with a Thai friend use their ID and copy of your passport.
