Just putting in my experience with immigration. Just some context I’ve been to Thailand now 3 times once for a week on visa exempt, once with a tourist visa and then now on a visa exempt. So when entering most recently the Immigration officer looked at my passport and asked for onward flight or return flight. I had no phone data when landing so I had a screenshot of my onward flight, she looked at my onward ticket from my phone then thought about it for like 2 min then told me wait over there to the side. I knew I was going to be held back. Then another officer said follow me to the “back” room from there there were several of us waiting. The lady said I need to talk to the main immigration officer as soon as he’s finished with another person. Long story short, I waited 30 min then another lady came to me and said why are you here I said on Holiday. She said let me see your onward ticket and I showed her. Then she communicated to another lady and then she asked me why were you brought back here I said I have no idea and she was like who was the officer that told you to come back here and I said I can’t even pronounce your names. She said ok you are good then another officer came over and stamped my passport and I left from there. While I don’t blame the original officer cuz my passport photo and me now are a lot different with no beard and long hair and the onward ticket being from a screenshot I kind of wish the original officer at least asked me questions instead of just holding me back. I think they don’t have time for that since it was jammed packed and would rather have the back officers ask the deeper questions.
Hello, my husband daughter and I fly into Bangkok mid June
We will have 30days on arrival (NZ passports) - will we need to show leaving flights if we plan on getting a 30day extension at immigration? (60days total)
Don't want to pay for leaving flights we won't use if we are extending
Hi, I have a question. I'd like to stay 3 months in Thailand, so I was thinking about applying for the e-visa to get 2 months and extend it then 1 more month. When they ask for an onward flight, should I have it on the 2nd month or is it ok at the 3rd? Thanks!
Hello everyone, I hope you are all well. My 30 day visa extension on a 60 day tourist visa expires on March 12. I plan on flying out somewhere close for a couple of days and then coming back in with a Visa exempt. Do I need an onward flight ticket out of Thailand before the 30 day visa exempt expires? I plan on getting a visa extension on that and then heading back home to France on April 29 (I have this ticket already).
Thanks for the great advice! (I’ll be getting a Non O in France in June and then returning to Thailand at the end of July to stay…retirement visa, 800k, etc etc etc 😊).
I thought I had things figured out but today someone enlightened me. I went to Ecuador for a month, Colombia for two months, Spain for a month and now I’m in Portugal. So far traveling has been a piece of cake.
I have a one way ticket to Bangkok as I was planning to stay for 60 days. Today a member told me I can’t do an EVisa as I’m not in my home country (USA) and I’m not flying from there. I have no idea why that should matter but anyway I’m asking for some help here. I arrive on 3/7 and have an Air BnB in Bangkok until 4/4 which is 29 days. I have NO onward flight because I wanted to stay for 60 days. I believe I can get another 30 days for a fee but how will this complicate my entry with immigration? I don’t want to book a flight out until I know how long I can be there. Your patience and knowledge is appreciated
Hi all, apologies if this has been posted but I couldn't find the answer
We are arriving to Thailand in November with a view to travel around until mid January. I know we can get a 30 day entry visa but was looking at getting the 60 day tourist visa before we leave, so we only need 1 border run. Do I have to have a return flight as we are open to where we return from so we can arrange this while we are out there.
Sorry if this waffles on and hope it makes sense. thanks
My family of 4 (all NZ passport holders) have booked to come to Thailand for 40 days. We plan to go to Laos for 10 days in that time. We had thought we might do border crossings but have heard that it is necessary to show an onward flight within the 30 days in order to get on the initial flight to Thailand? If that is the case we may book a flight to Laos and return to Thailand overland - does this all sound doable and will we just receive a 30 day entry stamp each time we enter Thailand. Many thanks 😊
I arrive in Thailand April 3rd. I will get 30 days free (or 45...) and then extend another 30 days. To be safe I will book an onward flight out of Thailand.
Can I book it for a date after the first 30 days and if they ask, explain that I plan to extend the visa, or does the flight need to be booked within the first 30 days?
