You would like to avoid a trip out of the country and coming back in and going to quarantine again get a retirement visa. But this is exactly what will happen if you don’t change and come in on a tourist visa

You cannot convert from an S TV to any other type of visa.

Thanks. Some individuals are saying I can get a 60 day extension at the end of my 60 day tourist visa. Is that correct? I thought it was just 30.

Not necessarily recommend to get, but many people buy return tickets on airlines that have a good track record of giving you a full refund if you cancel within 24 hours of making a reservation.

do I understand you correctly to say that you bought a one-way ticket to Thailand? I’m not sure how the USA Embassy gets involved since all my dealings were with a Thai Embassy. Please clarify for me. Thanks

sorry, let me rephrase my statement. It is not more difficult for people with an IQ over 70 and for people who can spell ASQ.

You make it sound more difficult than it really is. Back in September it was very confusing because ASQ hotels would not let you book a room until you had an airline flight, and airlines would not sell you a ticket until you had a hotel room booked. All very disorganized. Now it is working smoothly. I know because I did it a month ago from Korea, not only did it but In a time crunch of a few days. if an old doddering person like me can do it, so can anyone else

I am sure there is a word somewhere to describe that reasoning but it escapes me at the moment.

Because the situation is so fluid, I think it that you come back in mid January and ask the question. If the situation spirals out of control here, all bets are off.
