Just an FYI for anyone applying for the DTV visa through the soft power track. It's been a nightmare. My embassy is NYC and the requirements change frequently. The cooking course I scheduled states that their 2 week intensive course is eligible but the embassy now requires a course duration of at least 6 month.

I'm looking for clarification on the financial requirements for a DTV visa. Specifically:

1. Does the 500,000 Baht need to be in a bank account for a specific period of time before applying? If so, how long?

1. Would funds in a liquidable retirement account (such as a 401k from a previous employer or a Roth IRA) be acceptable if they can be cashed out if needed? Or do the funds need to be in a regular bank account?

Today, I went to the Savannakhet Thai Embassy to apply for a Non-O visa as I have children. Unfortunately, I assumed everything was status quo and only learned about the new "No walk-ins" policy that came into effect on June 4th.

I'm now trying to create a reservation on the website they provided, but I don't see any openings for June. Is there an issue with my browser, or am I going to have to stay in Laos for a month?

I’m applying for the non-immigrant ED visa for my son while in Hong Kong. Does anyone know if he enters a country (in this case, HK) on one passport (HKID) can we get the visa affixed to his other (nationality) passport? Or does it have to be with the passport he entered the county with? Tried calling the consulate in HK with my question but no one answers. TIA!
