Can I extend my 30-day visa exemption in Thailand to stay for a total of 90 days?

Hello! I'm in the UK and I'm planning on going to Thailand in the next few days (with a visa exemption, for 30 days). Can I get a 60 day Covid visa extension when I'm in Thailand to stay a total of 90 days? Or is there any other way I can stay for 90 days in Thailand having entered only with a 30 day stamp? I know I can apply for a 60 day tourist visa but I'm afraid that might not come back in time for my flight. Thank you :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question asks about the possibility of extending a 30-day visa exemption in Thailand to 90 days. Responses indicate that a COVID-19 extension is likely not available for new arrivals, as it was intended for those already unable to leave due to the pandemic. The alternative mentioned is applying for a tourist visa in advance, but there are concerns about timing given the travel situation from the UK.

Lol considering that we’re finding new cases everywhere in Thailand I dont think this is a possibility. It’s very likely we go into lockdown soon

I dont think you can go out uk now? Or you can?
Karim ***************
@Jeroen **********
you can, you’re just advised not to travel unless necessary. I know people who have taken flights yesterday and had no problems checking in. If you have the relevant paper work/Covid tests etc, you can fly.

I seriously don’t understand why people keep asking questions and haven’t done any research before! Please don’t be lazy. Everything is on line, go to the Thai embassy website first!

I can answer that question. WE are human beings and its great to engage even here where some people may not be so understanding. Open your heart and mind and you may find a shit load of other reasons why somebody may choose to be lazy.

oh I’m definitely a plonker. But don’t you get my point? What’s the group for, if it’s not to share information. Some people just don’t have the skills or abilities to search, some don’t have the time. I’m always happy to help someone on this group, even if it’s with the simplest of questions.

facts yes but assumptions and rumours shouldn’t be shared

I have also helped many people here with questions, however it only helps the question asker if they try to get an idea of what they are asking. This person thinks they can still fly to Thailand without all of the requirements and documents. Just saying that they would get better answers if they have a clue before asking.

@Mick ********
yea I know that and clearly you know that. But there is also a lot of conflicting information online, especially at the moment. Even some mainstream news papers in the U.K. were posting incorrect information yesterday (Telegraph). It’s a stressful situation at the moment and people need a little extra guidance. Anyway, merry Xmas from a fellow plonker Mick, no hard feelings 😉

as I said in my post, look at the Thai embassy website first. All correct information is there. My original rely to your original message was deleted due to standards. It started with a T and ended with a T. With WA in the middle. 555

Probably not. The last day they are selling it is the end of January. I also never heard of anyone getting a COVID-19 extension on a RECENT tourist visa.
Bobby ********
Benjamin Hays. My understanding of the covid extension is that it is for people stuck in the country unable to return home, not for people now entering the country saying "Yay, here I am with my return ticket!"

Have you done your research? I am from the UK and have been in Hanoi since march. You need a whole list of documents to even board the plane. You need medical insurance covid coverage of 100k usd. You need certificate of entry from a thai embassy. You need a covid test before you go. You then have to have booked a quaratine hotel for 14 days and pay for more tests there. If you don't have all these documents you won't be allowed to board the plane. The quaratine itself is thousands alone. There are no direct flights right now from the UK to Thailand and if your transiting you must make sure your transit point has not banned UK. Every hour more and more countries have banned all flights from the UK. It's up to 40 now. Many of us in Vietnam want to go back to Thailand but we have to wait until atleast April it looks like. All the requirements will set you back thousands of pounds. There isn't even any flights to Thailand from Vietnam.

You make it sound more difficult than it really is. Back in September it was very confusing because ASQ hotels would not let you book a room until you had an airline flight, and airlines would not sell you a ticket until you had a hotel room booked. All very disorganized. Now it is working smoothly. I know because I did it a month ago from Korea, not only did it but In a time crunch of a few days. if an old doddering person like me can do it, so can anyone else
Yeni *******
@Edward *******
I’m in Thailand living here and believe me they are not making it sound more difficult than it is. This is 100 % the case. It’s very difficult and also the 14 day quarantine is at a government hotel.
เอ็ดเวิร์ด *******
@Yeni ******
sorry, let me rephrase my statement. It is not more difficult for people with an IQ over 70 and for people who can spell ASQ.

we can't even fly from vietnam. No flights. 100k usd covid medical insurance, certificate of entry from Thai Embassy and 14 days very expensive hotel quarantine. Your looking at thousands of pounds right now to return. Best to wait it out till later next year.

Please read the newest rule stating that 50+ countries don't need a visa anymore for short stays ✌️
Andrew *****
@Leon *******
yes but that hasn’t been given the go ahead yet I maybe wrong if I am great there is still the Coe to sort out and your ASQ before you fly I hope you are correct I’ve only been out of ASQ for 3 days

The covid extension is available for people unable to leave the country since covid began. It is not available for people now freely coming to the country.

If your in Singapore they issue visas very quickly (edit you changed your post to say in UK)
Michael ********
The Thai embassy in Singapore also has a facebook page which is quite useful
Leon *******
@Michael *******
oh that's good to know! If you're British, Singaporean or French would also apply?
Michael ********
@Leon *******
i believe so my circumstances were different in July but i got a visa in 20 minutes. Then you had to apply COE before getting visa
Leon *******
@Michael *******
but in July you got it under Special conditions, right? So hopefully for normal tourists would still be easy, ok, thx!!
Michael ********
@Leon *******
Its always been very quick and efficient in Singapore as long as you have correct paperwork. I found best time to call if you have any queries was 16 30
Leon *******
@Michael *******
ok, cool, thx. Well, been stranded here since March and it only takes me 5min every 2 weeks to 2 months to apply for a new extension on the ICA website and having it approved within 2 hours. I guess I'm gonna be on my 9th or 10th extension now! So yeah SG can do things pretty smoothly if you're lucky enough!!
Michael ********
@Leon *******
my son couldnt get extension in Singapore and his grandmother has Singapore citizenship and he was born there not that it makes any difference as he has British passport
Michael *******
Visa exemption is now for 45 days including 15 days for quarantine. Believe you can only extend one time for a further 30 days.
