Can I apply for a 30-day extension on my eVisa, with a start date after my current visa expires?

I got a 60 day extension eVisa from USA, good to Oct 20. I was told by supposed authority I can go in to immigration and apply for my 30 day extension as early as next week and immigration will put start date of the 30 days at October 20th. My only previous experiences was with Covid extensions and the start date of the new 30 day extension began the day you applied, no matter how many days you had left on your current visa stamp

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has a 60-day eVisa that expires on October 20 and is inquiring about applying for a 30-day extension. They have previously dealt with COVID-related extensions and are uncertain if the approach is the same. A commenter clarifies that the user can apply for the extension when they have 30 days left on their current visa without losing any days, as long as the extension corresponds with the same type of visa.

The way you asked your question is very confusing.

I'm assuming you are saying you entered Thailand on a single entry tourist visa, and were stamped in for 60 days which ends on October 20th.

At most immigration offices you can apply for your extension when you have 30 days left. Your extension will be added to the end, and you will not lose any days.

You only lose days when you change reasons for your stay, like going from tourist to covid, that would start the day you applied.
