I just did it the week before last, went in Thursday morning, picked it up Friday afternoon. Make sure your paperwork is in order, they throughly checked it and double checked it.
: As far as ED visas go, people will learn Thai the first year, maybe take a self defense course in Chiang Mai for a 2nd year long ED visa, then you could take a Chinese language course for another year. I've heard of ED visas for Muay Thai and cooking, so it could work I suppose..
ED visas are limited to 12-14 months, but you can then get another ED visa as long as you are studying something different. But it is not something you can do for the rest of your life, it could get you a few years here though.
Laos won’t give you another MEtV unless you are a permanent resident there. You’ll need to get it from your home country or from Australia (where the don’t enforce the residency requirement).
