Hi all. Quick question. I currently have a 6 month multi entry tourist visa which is valid until 4th November. If I go to Lao before this visa expires will they issue me a new 6 month visa. I know I will lose my final 60 day stamp but I don’t want to go back to the uk in the middle of Xmas and new year. Also what paper work will I need to get it done in Lao?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual inquired about obtaining a new 6-month multi-entry tourist visa in Laos before their current visa expires on 4th November. Responses indicated that obtaining a new METV (multi-entry tourist visa) in Laos is typically not possible without being a resident. It was advised to utilize the current visa to obtain the last 60-day stamp, which could then be extended for 30 days at immigration. This would allow a prolonged stay until late January or early February.

The nearest thai consulates that will issue a 6 month METV to someone without them being a legal resident of the country are the ones in Australia, no consulate in S/E Asia will issue a 6 month METV to someone who doesn't legally live in that country.

I'd say GET your last 60 day entry on the METV you have (by border bouncing just prior to the "enter before date" on the visa itself) and then get a 30 day extension on that last stamp. That's the way to wring the most out of an METV

Can you not just get a 60 day tourist then extend it to 90? that will give you the time needed

Is the visa valid until 4th November or your current stamp?

If it's the visa you can re-enter Thailand before the 4th November and you will get another stamp for 60 days. That stay can be extended by another 30 days at immigration for 1900 Baht. So you could be good until end of January / beginning of February.

Jason already mentioned, where you can get a new METV.

I think that will be the best option. Thanks

Laos won’t give you another MEtV unless you are a permanent resident there. You’ll need to get it from your home country or from Australia (where the don’t enforce the residency requirement).
