True, yon can collect your LTR at different consulates. The only issue for me would be having to carry the EVisa print out for 10 years.
BTW with the current exchange it is about $1350.00 USD to do in the BOI office. Good thing you are not in New Zealand! The price that they charge is astronomical!

Yes it was pretty seamless. The only painful thing for me was a loud mouth guy spouting off how smart he was and Telling his spouse how smart he was and to tell the BOI people how he smart he was!
One thing I had to show was a ticket out within the first 60 days of arriving. If you don’t have that then they either will ask for it or only grant single entry with no refund for the difference.
I got my visa from Chicago in the USA and it took 2 weeks because they made me resubmit some documents.
My 2 cents. I have done the boarder bounce to Penang twice. Leaving in the morning and returning the same afternoon. My METV was still valid so when I returned I had no issues getting stamped in for another 60 days. Doing it again in February which means that I’m not worried at all about doing it again.
